here’s some tips for researching occult/witchy topics

Get yourself a good pen(s) 

sticky notes

journal 

tablet/computer

Clear your schedule! You really wanna be able to dig in without interruption

Write down everything you think you know about a specific topic, just brain dump it

Know that things have different names! research them too! find out where that deity got all of its six names

Maps! Have at least one map of the current world. But its always helpful to have a map of the location/world of the time period youre searching. (places change names, street names change) btw does anyone have a map of Boston around 1870-1872 before the fire?

Know your time period positions & meanings (from oldest to current) BC, AD, BCE, CE (Current Era)

Really use Google. While Wiki is nice when you just want to know the basis of a topic, its sometimes unreliable. Use things like Google Scholar, Google Books, and even Google Maps for perspective

It never hurts to have a clear quartz around when on the hunt, its refreshing and makes my scattered mind feel more sharp

Bibliomancy. I tried this on 5 books looking for the same thing. About 3 of the wouldn't even be considered “occult” books. But they gave me clues and corresponded to my needs.

In between endless research, actually go back and read your notes

Learn the scientific outlook behind that cool legend/folklore that could definitely help your craft. (science doesn't need to cancel craft)

This was intended as an alternative for those who can’t actually do burnings. It was inspired by Charizard but is more seen in the colors that can be used depending on your supplies. I tried to make sure it would be accessible to those who could and couldn’t use real candles, but runs under the assumption you are using electric candles as that is what I use. 

Items Needed:

- a written or photo representation of what you are burning (keep this relatively small. I’d say no bigger than your palm)

- Electric Candles or orange candles (preferably enough to go around your representation, at least two though)

- a blue marker, crayon, etc that you can use on the paper

This curse was inspired by a quote from Bobby Singer from Supernatural.

The spell will be under the cut because it is a bit more complicated than my usual spells and also requires a sigil I made for it. 

DAY 2 - Take the day to meditate. It can be about anything or nothing at all. Let your mind wonder and do it’s thing. Journal about it and let things come to you.
