#oneadayplant The hilariously named and prickly brilliance of Rubus cockburnianus ‘Goldenvale’ Brambles are often unwanted additions to gardens, but they are, after all, only uncultivated Blackberries by another name. Over recent years the Genus Rubus has revealed itself to me as diverse and hugely interesting. Check out the @plantheritage National Collection of Rubus @the_rhs #HamptonCourt. Most, including this species do require a bit of space to return high visual impact, but worth allowing. Underplant these with spring bulbs to maximise use of the ground. Foliage is yellow, which is nice enough, but it is the white mealy coating to the purple-brown younger stems that I like the most. I’ve never noticed it flower or fruit. It may, it may not. You don’t buy if for those qualities. #winterstems #winter #plant #plants #rubus #rhs #plantheritage #rubus #plants #iplantsman #thorns #white #stems #plantingdesign #garden #gardens #gardening #gardendesign (at Crowborough, East Sussex) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8LjhFfArAr/?igshid=edofz0lx1xv9
