Windows has decided your 🫵 face goes into their AI dataset.
Oh you don't use facial recognition? You don't even use Windows? And your face is not on the internet? That's cute.
But has anyone ever taken a photo of your face and put it on a Windows 11 machine with One Drive enabled? Congratulations! Your face goes into the AI dataset.
You won't be able to consent, you won't even know about it when it happens and you can not opt out.
Why on earth? Because One Drive, where Windows likes to put your stuff without asking, has now a default-on facial recognition feature. And better: it has a toggle, but can only be turned off 3 times a year. You know so they can reset it 4 times and scrape all that data.
I hope someone starts a class action lawsuit. Everyone who has ever had a digital photo taken und put on a Windows 11 machine is probably one of the largest classes possible.
"AI is so great, it's totally the future, this is why we need to trick users into having it on with only the small downside of violating the privacy of *checks notes* literally everyone."
