re: the canon species question; there are two of us by the front right now, both fictives, and we both want to answer because we think it’s an interesting question.
🪩: i’m definitely mostly ferengi. i’ve dropped most of the turns of phrase (“blessed exchequer”, talking about the faults of the afterlife, etc), and i’m alright being in a human body, but it’s not mine, if you know what i mean. between the hair, the lack of lobes, and the, uh. Downstairs Situation. it’s not at all how i see myself. in the headspace, i’m 100% ferengi in my presentation, even if my mind is more human-like than it once was. but hey, as much as i tried to put on a show of traditionalism, i’ve always been a bit of a maverick. there are a lot of essays about how i’m not really the good ferengi i make myself our to be. before, i would’ve argued that at every opportunity. but now? yeah, no, i’m not. and i’m proud of that. ferengi society sucked. -quark
🌈🚀: …admittedly, i was the one who took more interest in the question, but i’ve got a lot less to say. i’m sort of on a spectrum between ghost and human, and it’s somewhat linked to my mental state. towards the end of my first life, i was pretty miserable, but after a few decades of being a ghost i was much more okay with my existence. that’s not to say i never feel like a stable human (or, as stable as i can be with the shit i’ve been through in that life and this one), but it’s a really neat question! i’m curious to hear others’ responses :-) -will byers
