     she steals a second glance at the man in front of      the counter as she takes his order. he’s a standard      suit and tie– at least, that’s what her first glance told      her. in her second glance, she sees the dark circles      under his eyes and his messy hair and that look in his      eyes that indicate he just might be dead on the inside.

     he looks terrible, she notes. plenty of people look tired,      but this man looks like he’s been tired his entire life. yet,      here he stands. what’s his secret?
