Hi! I love your blog, and I was just wondering: why did you choose Maya and Kristen holding the chicken in that sketch (I'm having trouble remembering the name) for your avatar picture? What is special about that sketch to you? Thanks!
Thanks and hello to you too! The sketch is called Super Showcase from the Maya Rudolph episode. Season 37 will always be my favorite and that sketch was one of the best from that iconic season. What made it stand out to me the most is that Kristen broke. This sketch was one of the only times during her seven year SNL career that she allowed herself to break character and crack up. Of course we saw her break a couple more times in the final few episodes of that season once The Californians hit the 8H stage. I love Super Showcase so much not only because I adore Kristen and Maya together, but also because everyone in that sketch was having such a fun time just going crazy and trying to keep it together in between laughs. And it is one of the only sketches that has made me cry from laughing so hard. It’s those little moments when I’m wiping laughter produced tears from my eyes that make me fall in love with SNL all over again. That sketch will always have a special place in my heart, and it’ll remain my icon until I leave this website.
