Backstory: Nicole meets Griffith when the band of the hawk was just starting, she was from a wealthy family the Gray family but she lives as a farm girl for years and ended up running away because of trauma from her family. Her family kept her on the farm for a certain amount of years as a way to make her humble since birth, but at some age she knew the wealth her family held and didn’t care for that life. When she met Griffith all she saw was a boy with a lousy dream at first singer entertained him. Why she follows him? He got her off the farm, he told her things he never told people or so she thought, he cares for her in a way nobody else did, even showed her more of life that she never knew. Nicole was slowly loving him right before her eyes and she didn’t know what to do. The night she left the farm she was about to be in an arranged marriage with a boy named Kira Moore. She didn’t want that life, to be married for a name was sick. She ran away with Griffith when he heard the news from her, he offered her a life for herself and she got to choose how her destiny went. She joined him but “you’re mine.” Is all Griffith could think of. She thought her life was her own after joining the hawks but she was tethered to Griffith always. Her love grew more and he played along with it but he’d never tell Nicole he loved her, she didn’t mind at first but it was until years later Guts joined she had never seen Griffith shown affection to someone like that or risk their life so much like that over someone else. Nicole trained under Griffith, she allowed him into her body, she let him mark her, she let him do whatever he pleased but she never asked for anything back since he gave her this life…”why would I?” Is what she would say whenever people asked her why she doesn’t ask more from Griffith. It gets to a point even during with him seeking out Charlotte to use her Nicole notices more about Griffith but she keeps quiet. She tries not to seem needy, but she’s desperate for affection back. She stopped training and fighting with them for awhile to find out how to be more useful in the hawk. She used her name as noble status to get into rooms with him and be his personal spy giving him intel. The problem was it was never enough, he’d praise her by calling saying “you did well, Angel” and it was just that. When she ends up confronting Griffith he tells her,”when did I give the impression that i don’t care for you? You’re still here for me right? I care about you because you care about my dream nothing more.” She thought about what he said for days, she even journaled her thoughts. Nicole was so stuck she took what he said as she was useful…but she saw it in a good way. If we skip after golden age and get into the eclipse, things take a turn. When Nicole tried to leave him after Guts left he didn’t let that slide, during the eclipse he fixed her to be immortal and bound to him by fate. Which is a nightmare, meaning even in reincarnation she’s forced to be with him. During the eclipse her real body was sealed in the God Hand dimension while he made a version of her body and forced her to live in the overworld. The overworld version of her body isn’t her real body. Essentially Nicole became some sort of goddess as she developed powers because of Griffith. She can use all forms of fire powers and she can heal as well. It’s shocking how she can heal when her powers were made from destruction but she doesn’t see it as such. She ended up making clones of herself in the overworld but Griffith after he reformed he figured out about them and started killing them out of hate and jealousy because he didn’t like the fact that each clone of Nicole lived their own life with someone who wasn’t him and made their own choices. When he actually does find the “real” Nicole he basically forces her to stay with him in Falconia and live how she used to but under his rule. She was basically forced to be his at the end of the day. She loathed it at first but he started love-bombing her again….she slowly fell in love again.
