What have Sam and I started??
Sam came to me about a month ago and said he was feeling down about how heβd been eating since we quite the Whole 30. I told him I agreed and could feel the negative affects as well. He told me he wanted to try the Whole30 again and I told him I was game. Well two weeks before our set start date he asks how I felt about doing a Whole90 instead of just 30 days. I really had to consider this before I agreed to it, but I did!!
Now we are finishing day 3 and I am still not sure how I am feeling about it. I had to have some compromises this time since last time was so insanely restricting. If we were going to do this for long term I need some give every now and then. So we are NOT going to make homemade everything this time. Salad dressings, mayo are just not the same as someone else making it. I found Primal Kitchen makes a lot of Whole30 approved products, so I will be using them a lot.Β
Also if friends want to go out for a special reason we will go and we wonβt limit ourselves. That was too difficult last time Sam and I tried to eat out while everyone else was enjoying themselves.Β
The Whole30 also suggests not to recreate meals that were originally not Whole30 with approved ingredients. This is because it feeds a craving you are having and the Whole30 is about trying to break those cravings, so it is contradicting to recreate recipes. However, I will be making us a few treats through out the summer. Sam usually enjoys some ice-cream during the summer, so I am going to experiment with some homemade berry sherbet recipes I found that are relatively Whole30 approved. Maybe I can tweak them.
I will say the book and lots of people warned the Whole30 is more difficult, but so far we are actually handling it better the second time around. The cravings havenβt been bad and I have been excited to cook consistently again.Β Knock on wood it stays this easy.Β
