Wow, your 'not really inspired' night is far more prolific than my inspired nights! Hahahha!

Aomine squints at his phone. His nose almost touching the screen. It's not that he can't see (Kagami knows that he's got good if perhaps a bit selective eyesight), but rather that he's so caught up in this stupid brain training game that he needs to be as physically close to it as possible.

"There he is again," Aomine hisses.

Kagami almost doesn't want to ask, but in the end not asking might actually be worse. That way Aomine will just keep going until he asks. "Where is who?" Kagami mumbles while peering through his binoculars. The lights in the house across the street keep switching on and off at random intervals. Kagami wonders if it might be some sort of morse code.

"That guy!" Aomine animately gestures at his phone screen. "He keeps challenging me."

"I thought you liked challenges."

"Not this one!"

"Why?"

Silence. Kagami turns his head to look at Aomine, who presses his lips together like he's said too much. Kagami sighs. "He's winning, isn't he?"

"Not always," Aomine says but it's so low that it's probably a lie.

Kagami shakes his head. "Then stop playing that stupid game."

"It's not stupid." Aomine scrunches up his nose, glancing at Kagami. "In fact, you get smarter playing it. You should try it. Might get your IQ up above your shoe size."

The next five minutes are spent trying to punch each other in the face (or any other available body part). The whole thing derails a bit once Aomine manages to get his hand into Kagami's pants, but everything comes to a very sudden and very embarrassed halt when Kuroko leans forward between the seats.

"You do make it rather easy to beat you, Aomine-kun." Kuroko says in a tone of voice that suggests he's seen worse, which is embarrassing on an entirely new level, actually. Kagami quickly scrambles up from where he's fallen into Aomine's lap and tucks his shirt back into his pants. He completely forgot their CI was in the backseat. Damn Kuroko's quiet nature. And damn Aomine for being such a sneaky, tempting bastard.

Aomine, for his part, continues to lounge in the corner with his shirt undone and his belt unbuckled. He looks like he wants to strangle someone. "That was you?" He snarls.

Kuroko nods and snuggles back into his seat, phone in his hands and vigorously typing away.

"You-," Aomine is halfway in the backseat when Kagami grabs him the collar of his shirt and yanks him back. "All of you can kiss my-," Aomine roars but Kagami silences him with a wave of his hand. He points at the house they've been watching. A van has arrived and people have begun to unload an alarming number of crates.

Aomine fishes out his weapon and grins. "Show time!"

"At least let me radio in-," but Kagami is too late. Aomine is out of the car and on his way to the house. Kagami rolls his eyes and heaves a sigh.

"You know, next time he gives you trouble just remind him that he's still on level five," Kuroko muses as if he's making a suggenstion to the universe in general.

Kagami checks his own gun and makes sure to tell their backup what's going on. He pauses before he gets out of the car and frowns. "How many levels are there?"

Kuroko looks up. "One hundred."

"And what level are you?"

"Eighty-eight."

Kagami grins, eyes going a little glassy as he envisions all the ways in which he can taunt Aomine now. "Hell yeah, I'll make posters and put them up all around the precinct."

Kagami sits with his back against the brick wall of the abandoned warehouse. The joint training of the SAT and the Metropolitan Police Department is over and everyone has switched from strict to casual, toasting each other with coffee and tea, and catching up on gossip. There’s gonna be an outing later where the drinks will be a lot more alcoholic, but for now, everyone’s content just standing around and having a laugh after a whole day of training exercises.

The rain got lighter towards the end of their last session, but the clouds still look like they have more to give. Kagami doesn’t mind. He waves at Mitobe over by the command truck and leans his head back with a satisfied sigh. His helmet is by his side, but he’s still in full tactical gear. Squad leader Harasawa hasn’t called them to the trucks yet so, Kagami figures they still have a few minutes to unwind.

“Knock, knock.”

Kagami starts, his hands flying up to his head to swat away whatever is poking him. He looks up and finds Aomine grinning at him upside-down. “What are you doing, idiot?” Kagami grumbles. “No one’s supposed to be up there anymore.”

Aomine shrugs, which is a feat considering that he’s hanging from a rope the wrong way around. “I was bored.”

Kagami grabs his helmet and gets up. He cleans off the most evident patches of mud and scowls at, well, Aomine’s chin, basically. “You could always help clean up.”

Aomine pokes him in the cheek. “I don’t see you doing that either, lazy.”

Kagami bats Aomine’s hand away, irritated. “I was about to,” he huffs.

“Liar.”

“Same,” Kagami growls and gives Aomine a shove that sends him swinging sideways. Aomine does nothing to stop the motion. Instead he laughs and gives Kagami a smack on the lips with every swing.

Kagami finally gets a grip on Aomine’s uniform and holds him still. “You’re such a bother.”

Aomine smirks. “Ah, but you like that, don’t you?”

It was supposed to be a relaxed evening with a couple of friends from their days in high school; just catching up, having a few drinks, nothing fancy.

Kagami knew the moment Kise waltzed through the door that their evening was going to take a sharp turn for the worse. Eight hours and seven clubs later, it’s six in the morning and Kagami is steering Aomine along the wall of their apartment, with Kuroko close behind.

“What the hell is this?” Kagami dabs his finger into a red smudge on the wall. He sniffs it. “Is that- that’s blood!” He immediately pats Aomine down for any injuries.

“Leggo,” Aomine complains. His movements are sluggish so he doesn’t quite manage to escape before Kagami grabs him by the wrists.

Kagami stares at the bloody mess Aomine’s open palms have turned into at some point during the evening. “What did you do?”

Aomine gazes at his own hands as if he needs to figure out who they belong to and shrugs. “Fell.” He shakes Kagami off and grins, wiggling his blood-stained hands. “Either that or I’m a serial killer.” Aomine laughs while Kagami glares at him. At least he seems to be somewhat stable now.

“Not funny,” Kagami says and pokes his finger at Aomine’s chest. He moves on to help Kuroko, who has flopped down on their doormat. Kuroko reaches for his shoelaces but his legs are hugely uncooperative. He looks up at Kagami with the most forlorn expression. “I’m too short.”

Kagami sighs and manhandles Kuroko into a position where he’s hanging off of Kagami’s shoulders like a wet backpack. “You’re not. You’re drunk.”

“You don’t think I’m short?” Kuroko’s voice is muffled since he’s essentially talking into Kagami’s sweater.

“You’re fine the way you are.” Kagami heaves Kuroko over the porch and slams the door shut with his foot. That wakes up Aomine, who has slid down the wall and is sprawled out on their shoes.

Aomine looks around himself in nothing short of wonder. Then he shrugs and falls over sideways.

Kagami gently lowers Kuroko onto a chair in the kitchen and runs back to check if Aomine is dead or not. “What are you doing, idiot?” Kagami shakes Aomine awake. “You can’t sleep here.”

Aomine wriggles free and shoves Kagami’s shoe back under his head like a pillow. His only reply is a snort that suggests he’s not willing to put that much effort into anything right now.

“Okay,” Kagami grumbles and hooks his arms under Aomine’s shoulders. “That’s it. I’m putting you in the bathtub.” He groans under Aomine’s weight but manages to drag him as far as the bathroom door, when he hears a loud thud from the kitchen. “Oh no,” Kagami says, horrified.

“Oh, look! An orange!” Aomine exclaims and waves something that looks suspiciously like a lemon under Kagami’s nose. Heaven knows where he got that from. Not to mention what else might be in his pockets.

Kagami all but drops Aomine on his ass and hurries into the kitchen. He finds Kuroko sitting cross-legged on the floor, trying to mend the broken leg of the chair with one of his shoelaces. It’s a mystery to Kagami how he failed to untie them before but managed to pull them loose now within seconds.

“What happened?” Kagami carefully disentangles the shoelace from Kuroko’s fingers.

“No!” Kuroko insists and holds on to the thread for dear life. “I’ll fix it. I need to fix it.”

Kagami is at the end of his rope here. One drunk he could have managed, but Aomine and Kuroko operate at completely different ends of the drunkenness scale. Aomine basically thinks he’s invincible (What else is new?), and Kuroko gets handsy and worried about the weirdest things. That means Kagami has to keep one of his boyfriends from picking a fight with oncoming traffic and the other one from getting run over because he feels the need to save every snail stranded on the road.

If Kagami had known that the evening would end with him carrying, shoving, and pushing his lovers through their apartment he wouldn’t have agreed to be tonight’s designated driver. He dumps Aomine awkwardly into the bathtub and sits Kuroko down on the floor.

“You okay?” Kagami asks when he notices Kuroko is a little green around the nose.

“I think I need to puke,” Kuroko mumbles. Meanwhile, Kagami struggles with Aomine in order to remove his jacket and shoes.

“You think you need to or you have to?” Kagami evades a kick to the face and smacks Aomine’s shoulder with one of his shoes.

“What’s the-,” Kuroko heaves and Kagami is ready to clear the area, but all that comes out is a long burp. “What’s the difference?”

“The difference is either I have time to get a bucket or Daiki here is going to have to share the tub with your dinner.”

“I’ll share the tub with you any time.” Aomine extends his arms in Kuroko’s general direction.

“You didn’t hear the part about his dinner, huh?” Kagami says with a smile as he watches Kuroko slowly crawl into the tub. They look like sardines in wrinkled clothing, but they’re finally both in one place, which is a lot easier to manage. Kagami runs his hand through Kuroko’s hair, eliciting a small, content sigh from Kuroko. He leans over and fetches a towel from the cupboard underneath the sink and puts it under Aomine’s head. He flicks Aomine’s nose for good measure.

“Ow,” Aomine grumbles, half-asleep.

“You deserve it.” Kagami stands up, but hesitates. He should get them a blanket or something. When he tries to move his foot he finds that he can’t. Aomine has a surprisingly strong grip on his jeans.

“Don’t go,” Aomine whispers. Although, it’s not quite clear if he does it because Kuroko is asleep or because his vocal chords are shot from a night of almost constant yelling.

“What am I supposed to do? Sleep on the floor?”

Aomine eyes the bathtub and scoots to the side. He immediately slides back to where he was. It’s a bathtub, after all, not a whirlpool.

“Yeah.” Kagami smiles and steps out of Aomine’s reach. “Nice try. I’ll get you some water.”

Kagami can hear Aomine’s whining all the way to the kitchen, but it doesn’t last long. When he returns with a big bottle of water Aomine is barely awake. “Here.” Kagami shoves the bottle at Aomine. “Make sure the two of you empty it.”

“Staaa-aaay,” Aomine sing-songs after a huge gulp of water. He spills some on Kuroko’s head, too, but Kuroko doesn’t even flinch.

“There is no space,” Kagami reiterates but it’s too late. In a move neither of them anticipated Aomine reaches for the hem of Kagami’s sweater and pulls him into the tub. Kuroko’s sudden promotion to sandwich filling is finally enough to wake him up. A string of squeaky noises makes them both aware that Kuroko might like some air to breathe. Kagami rearranges himself and Aomine until their legs dangle over the edge of the bathtub and Kuroko is settled on Aomine’s right side. About a minute later Kuroko is back asleep, curled into a ball with his head resting against Aomine’s chest.

“You’re impossible, you know that?” Kagami snarls. He should have gotten that blanket. Aomine will never let him get back up again.

“I know,” Aomine says with a shit-eating grin that Kagami hopes will turn into the worst hangover of his life, and throws his arm around Kagami. “Oh, and you may wanna be careful with your left shoe tomorrow.”

Kagami perks up. “What? Why?”

Aomine yawns heartily and slides lower into the bathtub, closing his eyes. “I puked in it.”
