Fic rec! Batman, 8K, Tim Drake Centric
Summary: Tim knows how the saying goes. "Don't meet your heroes". He knows it, he's lived it. Neither Batman nor Nightwing were nearly as cool in person as twelve year old Tim had imagined. They were disasters barely held together- mostly by Alfred. It's a lesson all children have to learn, that all your heroes are just people. Flawed people who are going to let you down.
Comments: This fic is a delight, just look at this dry panned humor.
So when Jason (the Red Hood????) stands over him after beating him into the ground, shitty Party City Robin costume donned way too tight over his biceps and ass, giving some honest to God monologue Tim lets the darkness take him and can only think fuck, he’s cringe.
This focuses on how Tim just...can’t see Jason as a threat. The beatdown, the later rants and insults, it’s all just drama for drama’s sake. It gets Jason so heated, not being taken seriously.
Things do take a serious turn, leading into an angst argument between Tim and Dick that’s got some great lines about Tim’s early time as Robin and Dick’s dismissal of him. But brotherly affection wins in the end, even from Jason.
