chapter 3: Nighty-night to the wolf, by Slytheerin

In the end, Sirius must have clearly fallen asleep during the night because the next thing he knew was waking up to a dim, pinkish glow from the sunrise outside and a tingling sensation at the back of his neck. “Remus?” Sirius mumbled as he rolled over to the silhouette standing on the threshold. “You’re back early, love, you okay?” Gold flashed in Remus’ eyes as he stepped into the dawn light. The pointy ears were new. And the tail. A long, fluffy brown and white tail wrapped around his left human leg, and half of a snout that made it impossible for him to answer with words. It had never happened before for all Sirius could remember, but it wasn’t necessarily a bad surprise. Remus looked shy, his adorable ears dropped down, not uncomfortable.  “Come here, Moons,” Sirius hummed, stretching a lazy hand toward his partner. The hybrid form didn’t scare him; Remus was as beautiful as ever.  The only coherent thought that crossed his mind when Remus rushed to tackle him on the couch, straddling his hips and pressing his body against him, was that he hoped for the sake of the world that no one, and least of all the hotel guardian, had seen on their way to work a stark naked hybrid covered in dried blood and presenting a very human hard-on. Sirius closed an arm around Remus’ shoulders and coaxed him closer, slipped his fingers into his hair to toy with the sandy curls, soon grazing along the soft ears. Remus smelled like mud, wood and leaves and musk, and Merlin, “I’m so glad you’re home.”

Or, while Regulus escapes, Remus/Moony is learning to be a "proper" werewolf out there and Sirius is coping as much as he can.

He felt a bodiless nudge, which caused him to slow, then stop to spin in a circle. The nudge knocked into him again. Curiosity overruled apprehension. Suddenly another wolf wove through the trees; this wolf was smaller and had a reddish tint to its coat. Unlike when the wolf met the dog, the wolf wasn’t aggressive toward this newcomer. They ran at each other and sniffed eagerly. The wolf smelled mostly familiar, like himself, with a hint of her own scent. Remus realized this was Lily—he had let her into his magic. Wolf Lily sat and tilted her head, then looked around the forest. Remus imagined his wolf howling, so that’s what he did. And Lily’s wolf let out a small howl of her own. 

Wolf Lily jumped up and barked a few times, leaping around slightly. Then she walked forward and pressed her nose into his. Remus gasped as the world shifted and he was himself, standing in a huge expanse of tall grass. As soon as he saw Lily standing next to him he knew she had pulled him under her magic. 

“Hey,” she smiled. “I don’t have much patience where magic is concerned. Sorry.”

Remus sighed. “This is your magic?”

I'm really fascinated by werewolves in the Harry Potter universe. Major confession: I was and forever will be a member of team Jacob (if I ever let my mind strays into that universe).

Anyway, I was inspired to build some werewolf lore in my series. This includes things like werewolf behavior, mating bonds, pack hierarchy, and the way werewolves feel before, during, and after their transformation.

I created a community of werewolves in Japan who live life in a very different way than Remus is familiar with.

And the other exciting part is I've world built so other characters (Sirius, Lily, and Regulus in this work) can join Remus under his magic and run with him as a wolf. It's hard to explain in something like this because the concepts are woven through multiple of my works, but I absolutely love it!!!

We know very little about Remus' wolf transformations from canon. According to Remus as an adult, they are/were painful. And it is well known werewolves are very dangerous. Remus "bit and scratched himself" in the shack due to lack of human prey.

Much of Remus' transformation and wolf existence are fanon or individual HC. Where do you stand?

Okay, James hasn't been mentioned yet in his wolf form, but I added him in there as he goes under Remus' magic in the next work.

The first full moon after Sirius and Remus soul bond.

Both are carrying baggage from the werewolf rape which occurred during fifth year. They face yet another difficult situation where free will may be sacrificed to the wolf's desires. But this time they have the insight to attempt a different approach.

“I want this,” Sirius said evenly. “I want you. That is real. Do you hear me? I’m willing to risk it because I want you that badly.”

“I am terrified to lose you, now more than ever,” Remus said into his pillow. 

“I’m never leaving you.”

“That isn’t what I mean! We could be ruining ourselves forever with the choices we are making right now. What if it doesn’t go to plan? What if Moony rapes you again! Sirius, we will never be able to heal from that. And I do not want to be that person. It isn’t me!”
