okay I know I'm ragging on the price because it's low-hanging fruit but it really isn't that insane. I mean, if I went to the store to buy 3 full-priced nail polishes and came home with 1 that cost as much as 3 would've, would it actually be that different in my life? No. They'd all end up dried and old in my nail polish basket just the same.
Do I want to buy an expensive Harry Styles nail polish? no. If I were going to buy an expensive nail polish, would I probably go for Pleasing? yeah. I like the ethics, I like the iridescence, and I like the cute little pearl caps. I can't lie. For me, none of that entices me up to the higher price point.
I think it kind of just is what it is, a mid-priced luxury brand selling an aspirational concept at a relatively attainable price. It's perfect for Harry's core demographic (the incredibly lucrative teenage daughters of wealthy american suburbanites). and if you're not interested it's very easy to take it or leave it. It looks like his most successful merchandizing so far, tbh. And I do really enjoy the aesthetics, they feel more like Harry than the aggressively offbeat kitschy vibe of some of his music merch, so I kinda hope we see more in this direction.
I smile and its a smile that can't be fathomed by any but the divine. It is of a secret pact between the two of us. He plays his part in the heavens and I play my part on earth. And that exchange of smile between us takes place everytime we see that we both are doing our part pretty perfectly well. Kind of a vision where the greater plan is in its pace and we share the grin beyond the grasp of any. What a joy...
