Books I’ve Read, Pt. 4 (2025 Edition)
They finally came!!! I’ve been waiting forever and they finally came!
The Intruder is a gripping psychological thriller that blends suspense, mystery, and emotional depth in a way that keeps readers hooked from the first chapter. The story follows Casey, a woman living alone in a remote cabin in the woods of New Hampshire. She’s trying to start over after losing her job and dealing with personal issues, but when a violent storm hits and she discovers a blood‑covered young girl hiding in her toolshed, her peaceful isolation turns into a dangerous night of fear and uncertainty.
What makes this book stand out is how McFadden slowly builds tension. Instead of relying on loud scares or gore, she uses atmosphere, isolation, and distrust to create a psychological pressure cooker. Casey doesn’t know whether the girl — later called Nell — is a threat or a victim, and that uncertainty drives the suspense forward.
The narrative alternates between the present night in the storm and the girl’s troubled past, giving depth to both characters and making their interactions feel unpredictable. This also pushes readers to ask the same question Casey asks herself: Who is really dangerous here?
McFadden’s pacing is fast yet thoughtful, with twists and reveals that play on fear and empathy rather than shock value. The cabin, the storm, and the emotional baggage both characters carry make The Intruder feel like a psychological maze — just when you think you know what’s coming, another layer of the story gets pulled back.
Overall, The Intruder is a tense, eerie thriller that works best if you love cabin‑in‑the‑woods vibes, moral ambiguity, and mysteries where danger isn’t always obvious. It’s atmospheric, suspenseful, and keeps you thinking long after you finish.

Im back
I've been reading ....
I recently completed "The Whisperman" and "Ward D" within a two-week period, and I found both to be exceptionally compelling. While "Ward D" consistently generated a high level of suspense, I personally found "The Whisperman" to be the more engaging of the two.
My problem with The whisperman was the AMOUNT of characters and POVs (Spoilers : you have the killers POV as well and its so good)
And Ward D ? Well , the main character act like an dumb 6 year old most of the time :) I hate rage bates

It usually takes me several months to finish one book because tiktok, reels, and yt shorts have rotted my attention span. That's how it started with Ward D by Freida McFadden. I was only a few chapters in, then left it for months. But I just finished it in less than a day🧍♀️and ngl, I didn't expect to cry at the end. That's what happened, though. But I have a new favorite author, so there's that. Really felt like I was going insane while reading this. It was perfect.
Read of Ward D by Freida McFadden (2023) (299pgs)
A book where I was actually surprised with the twists 10/10
(I have pattern recognition autism 🫡)
