For any of you whoāve never read The Kane Chronicles (Iām going somewhere with this trust me) in book 2 Walt, Sadieās future BF, is introād as 14. Heās suddenly 16 in the third book. This was massively confusing to this teenage nobody but eventually it became clear that canonically Walt was 16 and Sadie is 13.
Along comes Frank and Hazel, another 16-13 guy-girl pairing. This was less weird, because at least it made things consistent. And hey, Rickety Split used to be a teacher. Heās probably seen relationships with larger age gaps. Point is, he knows this tends to happen with kids.
My issue is that a lot of the fans who take issue with this tend to go the direction of making Frank and Hazel be friends rather than making them closer in age (and the people who go this route also usually make Leo single as well). Iām wholly offboard with that. Theirs is the highest-profile interracial relationship in the Riordanverse with no white person in it (and thusly far less popular).
Wonāt catch this nobody taking away from that.
