imagine if Colors very existence slips from peoples mind when not directly observed. Forgotten until he is there.
~Musical Anon
Yes, I love that. Itâs the opposite of Muriel from the Arcana too, whereas Colorâs is a horrible curse forced on himâpossibly a sign of the Voidâs lingering presence in his new lifeâMuriel wished for his âcurse.â That people would forget him and his existence as soon as he left their sight, only able to remember him if he allowed it via gifting them somethingâI believe it was a type of flower?
Also similar and in contrast to Killer himself, who if it wasnât for Nightmareâs intervention, was perfectly willing to erase himself and allow his existence to be forgottenâbelieving that Papyrus doesnât need him, and deserved to have a happy ending without him.
I also think the Void should have more effects on Color, too. Like maybe with time his âcolorâ started to grey out, making him have a more monochrome like lookâand maybe he still appears to have patches of lost color or something like monochrome on his body even after his escape.
Maybe sometimes his appearance flickers when people look at himâas if heâs not something of this world, and doesnât truly exist in it. Or shouldnât exist in it.
Maybe if he had stayed long enough in the Void, he wouldâve even lost most if not all of his physical formâsimilar to the way that Gaster has a floating head in the Void.
A moot of mine even had a headcanon that, sometimes people look at Color and see something ethereal and otherworldly, whereas others look at him and see their greatest fears; something horrific and monstrous. In a blink and youâll miss it kind of way.
Iâd imagine having six human souls inside him, allowing a body that should for all accounts and purposes should be dust by now, to move and talk, definitely wouldnât help the sense that people get that theyâre looking at or talking to something that is not on the same reality or plane of existence as them.
Especially if Color himself sometimes doesnât seem to be mentally on the same plane, either. Or at least often seems lost in his own head. For example, as if time doesnât seem to mean much to him for a while, or as if heâs looking beyond and seeing something that others arenât.
Some probably just write it off as trauma, the impact of having been separated from people and society for so long, others may be more suspicious or even knowing of any possible supernatural aftereffects that the Void could cause. Maybe something around that one quote, âstare long enough into the abyss, the abyss stares back,â something like that.
Could also be interesting to either or also go a more mental, emotional, psychological route. Color feels and fears that his existence slips peopleâs minds and he is or will be forgotten again if people do not directly look at, perceive, or speak to himâforgotten and discarded until someone looks at him again, until they want or need something, until itâs convenient for them to remember him.
I like to think color has those flames coming out of the area near his arm not because absorbing the six souls basically caused his body to explode, but because he tripped and fell in the Void while trying to get used to the sheer amount of darkness so many times, and his bones are so fragile that the falls broke and gradually completely shattered his arm
Ohh, I like to think about Killer's hair length being the same as princess bubblegum from AT, in those episodes where she has the long hair and the classic dress
Had to look it up, but I can definitely see him having a tendency to lean towards longer hair.
I also have a headcanon that a human or humanized Color would have had hair as long as Jinxâs from Arcane, when her hair was let down and let out of its braids, in the Void.
Two decades without the means to cut it or take care of it means it grew extremely longâprobably also thinned considerably due to the lack of upkeep, toxic amounts of stress, and lack of sunlightâlikely grew very dirty and tangled, knotted and excessively frizzy and probably even heavy.
His neck still aches under the imaginary weight of it sometimes, and the feeling of hair brushing against his elbows and especially his waist or knees is massively triggering. Heâd carry a comb around a lot, just in case, whenever he worries about it.
Because his scalp still burns from the phantom aches of when he tried to obsessively run his fingers through his hair and detangle it, often getting so frustrated and stressed he ended ripping out chunks of hair.

I was thinking about it this morning but I feel like Color almost certainly has some kind of migraine problem. Not just rom the damage to his skull but also as a result of having been in the void for so long. Especially if he's living in the OT,* with it's constant just ambient white light. Which come to think of it, would probably cause its own whole host of issues for him. The same kind of stagnate environment as his time in the void? A lack of day & night cycle / unchanging light levels; no real like 'nature' or natural structures? I feel like it could act as a trigger to his time in the void; even if they look different there could be enough points of comparison to be unpleasant... Which is why I both think it would make sense for him to live there but also I'm not sure if he would want to? Or if he'd want to find some timeline to settle down in? Somewhere where everything functions 'normally.' Plus, it's kind of funny to think about neighbour hood shenanigans with the Chromatic Crew xd Whoops. That uh, wasn't where I was going with this ask initially haha. Guess sometimes ideas just come as they do.
You and I are of the same mind here, I agree. I also think Color really hates feeling trapped or stuck, and he definitely hates feeling stagnant or unmoving in one place.
Which is why I firmly believe that despite Colorâs need for some form of structure and routine, he needs to be moving physicallyâI do believe heâd struggle to actually put down roots in any one place for awhile.
Heâs been trapped in place for what feels like forever, he doesnât want to be stuck, he doesnât want to waste time, he wants to live his life while he still can. Itâs just he physically, mentally, emotionally, and psychologically would not be able to handle such change and new immediately off the bat.
Not after the predictably of the Void, despite how boring he mightâve also found it. It at least was familiar, and he knew at least what to expect.
Which is why I really donât think that heâd be staying or living in the Omega Timeline by the time heâs decided heâs going to help Killer.
Heâd stay in contact with his friends there of course, meet up with them when he can, but heâs either basically a nomad by the time he and Killer reach the point where Stage 1 actually asks Color to save him, or is becoming one immediately after.
Which I doubt was much of a suprise to Epic or Delta, they all mightâve sensed it was coming eventually, but i wouldnât be surprised if this mightâve caused some big feelings on all partiesâparticularly if Delta, for example, expresses concerns that Color is uprooting his entire life for Killer.
I doubt it was an easy choice for Color eitherâheâd constantly worry about if Delta and Epic would forget about him if heâs not there, if theyâd never call or text, and especially if Color feels like heâs abandoning them.
And in some part, I do think it might be necessary to stay on the moveânot only to avoid being predictable and gaining Nightmareâs attention the more Color starts to become a problem for him, but to basically stay on Killerâs trail.
Because Nightmare is trafficking him, Killer will not be staying in one consistent spot, and itâs unlikely Color knows about or is able to gain access to Nightmareâs caste.
Which means Color and Killer will likely either only meet up or encounter eachother in person when Killer is actively working (especially if Color is fighting to defend this current AU Nightmare has Killer attacking), if they agree on places to meet up in private, or if Killer comes to or shows up at any temporary apartments Color is staying in. Everything else would likely be in coded communications or phone/text.
Which is also why I think Color would only go back to the Omega Timeline for longer is becauseânot only does he really miss his friendsâbut itâs mainly for Killer. He wants Killer to be safe, to protect him from Nightmareâand Nightmare isnât supposed to have access to the Omega Timeline. He wants to give Killer the chance to heal, to have a home and to try and feel safe again.
Killer may be fine with the whole âhim and color vs nightmare & the worldâ/âon the runâ thing, but itâs ultimately unsafe and not beneficial in the long run.
Living in the Omega Timeline is a sacrifice Color is willing to make. At least until theyâre all certain itâd be safe enough for them to leave and live elsewhere.
And he most definitely has painful migrainesâbrother gotta bring at least a bottle of painkillers or some BC with him wherever he does, especially so soon after escaping the Void.
Wonder if color used to hate making or holding eye contact until the void. now he much prefers being looked directly at then glanced over or just not looked at or acknowledged when heâs speaking
I think one of the most noticeable times a soul may take full control over Color is in conditions that mimic the Void, particularly with Patience.
Patience will just sit there, patiently waiting to be found or remembered. And then as soon as whatever triggered it forward is gone, then Patience will retreat and Color will return.
Which adds another layer to Color deliberately seeking out environments that mimic the Void when heâs distressed, or angry, and dysregulatedâbecause it triggers Patience, and Patience makes him calm.
