Finally resolving to press call on her phone, she had waited for the male to answer. It was fairly an unreasonable time for her to call but she didnât know anyone else who could help her right now. âHyun! God, Iâm sorry for calling you this early but could you please help me out? I really need it.â
âI wouldnât be here if I had a choice, but I have to do these sorts of things now.â

itâs a saturday night and his bones ache from the days prior, but the smirk on his lips and glint in his eyes betray the heaviness of his leather clad limbs. itâs all part of the job: the appeal. heâs not used to the intermittent silence, a huge contrast from the pounding bass that heâs accustomed to, previous jobs at numerous clubs giving him far more experience in dealing with the throbbing in his temples than he needs. he supposes heâs grateful.
classy and elegant, the new bar heâs working at is filled with people that probably earn more than he ever will from serving up drinks ( ten dollars an hour doesnât put food on the table, cheques stained with blood do, however ). and he should probably be chided for chatting up the ladies that now swarm the counter, they are twice his age, if not more, but extra cash is still cash and they tip heavily. heâs in the midst of this when the whispering erupts, hushed words thrown around, mouths covered while eyes dart, heads turn. whateverâ or whoever it is must be a big deal, judging from the way they start to disperse despite the almost unyielding way they draped themselves across the counter mere seconds ago. and thatâs why itâs with curious eyes that he regards the male before him, eyes lined with kohl, lips curved playfully, a slight tint to it, clothes that hug all his curves right. so this is what theyâve been whispering about.
baekhyun, he introduces himself as, and jongin passes himself off as kai. he is not questioned although eyebrows are raised. it doesnât sound korean and it isnât, baekhyun is shut up easily with a martini on the house.
they always do have the most interesting stories to tell when theyâre drunk.
it comes forth slowly, between hiccups and stuttered giggles. jongin is beyond amused, now leant against the counter, elbows meeting wood as he watches baekhyun closely. even the rich and wealthy had their secrets, only better concealed behind closed doors and gloved hands.
the giggling subsides and baekhyunâs silent, atmosphere growing solemn as reality whips itâs ugly reigns around the weight of his predicament.
âi wouldnât be here if i had a choice, but I have to do these sorts of things now.â
jonginâs probably in no position to retort, but he doesnât stop himself from replying.
âyou wouldnât be here if you had a choice? thatâs bullshit and you know itâ, fingers thread themselves between locks of hair, their faces barely inches apart. âyou like it, donât you? the money, the attention. you love it.â
Annoyance - It wasnât the first time heâd felt such an emotion, but he knew it wouldnât be his last. He hated teaching rookies the ropes. He hated watching them try, and fail, and he hated when a job wasnât done right because someone new didnât know what they were doing. This time it was especially prevalent, because the other guys, or in this case, womanâs, mistake left a hole in his right shoulder, just below the collarbone. Heâd just fished out the bullet, and as he was spilling some alcoholic beverage on it to disinfect, someone had approached him. He figured he shouldnât have done this outside, a few blocks from where it happened, but it was late in the night, and he didnât think anyone would actually be around to witness him. Obviously, he was wrong. So he stood there, in his annoyance with a sour face, trying to explain to the shorter male that it had just been an accident. He didnât seem to buy it.Â
âIt was. My idiot partner doesnât know how to aim a gun. ugh. Why do I always get stuck with the newbies?â He continued to grumble to himself about it, but he knew he had to get his injury bandaged, because heâd already lost a lot of blood and he was starting to feel light headed. Not a very good sign, but he could manage for a few more minutes, sending a text to his employer to send a cab.âWhyâre you out so late, anyway? Itâs not very safe, you know.â Thatâs when he decided to take the time and actual look over at the other. He was shorter than him, that was for sure, and if he didnât know any better, he wouldâve thought a girl had approached him. He wasnât trying to be rude, thinking like that, but the shorter had very soft features and if not for his voice or hair cut, he wouldâve definitely thought it was a woman. In a way, he thought that the other male looked pretty. He didnât voice his thoughts though, and his gaze eventually went back to his wound, where heâd pressed a ripped piece of his shirt. âI have a cab coming to get me, and iâm probably gonna pass out once I get in. If you need a ride home, just get in, and tell the driver the directions. Iâll pay him after, so donât worry about that.â Â Â He wasn't usually so rude, but anyone would have a slight change in character if their partner had shot them. It wasn't really that the pain bothered him, because he had a very high tolerance, he was just annoyed because he'd have to wait for it to properly heal before he would get back to his job. He'd just hoped the other was forgiving, because if they'd met under different circumstances, he wouldn't have been so irritable.
Baekhyun is sitting on the single chair he has outside on his small balcony with a book in hand, enjoying the cool breeze of midday that contrasts with the sun that shines down on his skin. Heâs thankful that the weather is finally changing, having been tired of the constant heat that made him a bit too warm for his liking to step outside for too long. He is usually someone who is cold all the time, but the summer heat is still too much for him. He likes being warm, not sweating. Now is the perfect weather to be outside, and it appears heâs not the only one with the thought.
Sudden background noise filters through his ears that sounds closer than the streets below him and he looks up from where heâs finishing up the last line on a page to find the source of noise that drew him out of the small bubble he was enclosed in. Baekhyunâs eyes settle on a woman that is two balconies down from him, and his gaze is quick to grow into one of amusement at the sight  heâs provided with. âA laundry line. Really?â Baekhyun calls out loud enough for the girl to hear him, a laugh bubbling up in his throat as he dog-ears the corner of his book before closing it. She was actually creating her own personal laundry line on the balcony.Considering the amount of dryers in their apartment complex, itâs amusing too find someone drying laundry like this. âYou really donât want to pay to use the dryer that much, huh?âÂ
Things have been lonely in the past month and days were spent cleaning on the apartment, and organizing her stuff over and over, just to cope. Free times were spent filling her wall with taped sketches and speedily-done paintings, and her room was almost turning into a big mosaic of them. One thought led her to another, and the next thing she knew, she was setting up a clothesline. Extra purposes, she thought, for when she needs to let some washed things dry, and another to give some more paintings the space air-dry out.Â
As she hammers a nail on the wall for the wire to bind, she stops at the sound of shrill laughter followed by a comment, looking instinctively upwards at direction of the voice that questioned her as to why she was making a laundry-line on the balcony. She could feel her ears turning red as she crossed her arms, not having the best of first impressions regarding the other. âI do pay for the dryer, but there arenât regulations that state the prohibitions on using laundry lines, right?â

ronanâs eyes rise from the floor at the sound of the maleâs voice, featrues evolving into ones showing amusement and curiosity so qithout much of a further word, he takes a few steps closer, taking advantage of the evident height difference to hover over him like a raven does over its prey, smile wide, white and deathly. his index finger rises, brushes against his cheekbone, jawline, chin. his eyes are dark like a deep december night, just as cold, and he still hasnât said a word. until.
âi would say, youâre at the wrong place, at the wrong time.â
âI thought that you didnât want to join me, dumb.â She said while gazing at the bubbles on the bathtub while her index finger pops two of them. âReally?â Joohyun looks at the door, raising a brow as she notices the towel around his waist. âIf you do, please donât throw me water like you did the other dayâââÂ
