magic pregnancy lore dump
I wanna yap about magic pregnancies, mostly in the context of my Pirate Au, but it also applies to others like Rotten Fruit and the fairytale aus. I use magic and energy interchangeably.
The basic premise of it is magic is used for conception instead of other means, usually by same sex couples or polycules to have children.
They are different from normal pregnancies in that they need both/all contributing parents to be present and constantly feeding them magic for them to be successful, in contributing magic and energy they are contributing their genetics to the baby.
All demonic pregnancies feed on the magic/energy of the parents, as it goes to fueling the baby's own magic for when they are born, but with magic pregnancies it's ticked up a notch since they need it.
For a non magical demon pregnancy, if something happens to their mate, they will by in large be fine, the baby will absorb more magic from them and leave them more drained, but everyone is probably gonna live, unless too much magic is drained then that's a big problem.
For a magic pregnancy, if something happens to the non carrying parent, there is trouble ahead. Magic energy can been left in objects and used by the carrying parent to sustain the child, but it will take more energy directly from the carrying parent. Which can be fatal if it's early on or multiples.
Because of ✨magic✨, this directly influences how the baby will look, since they aren't getting as much of their other parents genetics contributed to them, they tend to be a lot more like their carrying parent.
Magic pregnancies can also be influenced by others, usually in dire circumstances like the non carrying parent dying, that parent's family members can sometimes successfully donate their magic to the developing baby. The baby can be very picky about it, sometimes they'll accept nothing but their og parent's energy, which puts a lot more stress on the carrying parent.
They can also be influenced by non family members, demons are naturally protective of pregnant mates, but those with one pregnant via magic are usually extra protective because someone can hijack their pregnancy and influence how the baby turns out.
This is highly frowned upon though, usually it's only done by a demon's enemies as a humiliation tactic/stealing someone's mate move.
Luckily for pirate au Macaque, his sunstone from Wukong has a ton of his magic in it. So he shouldn't be running out anytime soon.
Even if he does, it'll be at a point far enough along where Macaque can support them himself, they twins are gonna come out looking a lot more like him, but they'll be fine.
None of the crew are allowed to mess with him like that either, the Brotherhood's thinking is if the baby is more like Macaque then there is a higher chance more six eared macaques. They can't take the sunstone from him btw.
