Broken thirds are a great way to reinforce intervals and intonation! Here’s how I practice them: 1. Fill in all thirds played with non-consecutive fingers on the same string. Basically if you’re going from a fingered note to another fingered note on the same string that is more than a step away, play the in-between note. 2. Eliminate the in-between note playing with an awareness of where it would be if you played it. Feel the finger in between the fingers you are playing. The intervals will be clear and secure. This method helps organize the hand so the major thirds and minor thirds are exactly the right size. This method is great for arpeggios and repertoire passages as well! #violin #violinteacher #violintips #violinpedagogy #stringsattached #strings #stringplayer #musicteachersofinstagram #practiceroom #violinpractice #musicpractice #40hoursofpractice #40hoursaday #practicemakesprogress #practicepracticepractice #scalepractice #violinlesson #violinlessons #violinst #violinstrings #violinlove #practiceviolin #suzukiteacher #musicteachersofinstagram #classicalmusic #musiceducation #musicteacher #violinguy (at Washington D.C.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CD3h8KogwD9/?igshid=tp32qj1ezav7
