ok i thought ACT 1 viktor looked gorgeous, but here he is ETHEREAL. ʚ♡ɞ the hair with the white strands!! long haired men holy shit his outfit compliments his body so well! forever iconic, really. i'll miss him. (ꎿຶ꒫ꎿຶ) the urge to draw him is SO strong im gonna give in, i gotta give in. making a piece to honor his memory ASAP. ₍｡ •᎔• ｡₎

I wouldn't be surprised if the artist team took inspiration here visually. But what's really cool to me is how PERFECT lichen is as an inspiration

The themes of evolution, how the wild rune looks like a cell, biology, "it responds to organic matter!". Lichen is ALIVE

Alienness, because we don't see lichen up this close normally and it looks weird as fuck and IS weird as fuck. It's not a plant or animal, it's not even a single creature. It's a composite organism

It grows in places you think stuff shouldn't be growing. Lichen can grow on soil, but it can also grow on rocks, tree bark, buildings, like any surface and in extreme environments too. They live in places where NOTHING ELSE CAN!!!!

THAT’S THE POINT!

he died as a bright inventor ready to change the world and help people. he died as a brilliant, yet heavy mind, who only wanted to use his mind to save those who were as unfortunate as him.

at his absolute darkest, he was fused with the manifestation of unbridled power and inhumanity: the arcane. this power is KNOWN to corrupt and destroy. this magic is a seperate, conscious entity to viktor, and in fusing with it he lost everything that connected him to people. it was an IMMEDIATE 180 in character, because it was an immediate fusing of two seperate and powerful entities. suprise suprise, if you put a mad scientist and unhinged power in a mixing pot, you get hell!

so, no, i don’t think we shouldve gotten a downward spiral in s2 the same way we got in s1. his character was already driven halfway mad by the time he had fused with the arcane, and in my opinion i think having ANOTHER slowburn mental health arc would have taken away from the severity of his actions in s2. it’s MEANT to be a sharp contrast to his human form, because he ISNT HUMAN ANYMORE!!

honestly, we should just appreciate how they handled his character in arcane differently than they did in the original LoL lore. originally, he was just a mad scientist for the sake of being a villain character, but in Arcane we get to see his character become more nuanced and 3 dimentional.
