I sometimes seem to myself to wander around the world merely accumulating material for future nostalgias.

“I need my natural laziness to be counteracted by obsession in order to do anything.”

—Vikram Seth
All you who sleep tonight far from the ones you love, No hand to left or right, and emptiness above —know that you aren't alone. The whole world shares your tears, some for two nights or one, and some for all their years.
Vikram Seth
Non potrei amare nessun'altra, nessuna, in nessun luogo. Dovrei crearmi altre vene, perché le mie sono ormai così piene d'amore per te che nessun'altra potrebbe trovarvi posto.

You can't blame her,' said Amit. 'After a life so full of tragedy anyone would become hard.''What tragedy?' asked Mrs. Chatterji.'Well, when she was four,' said Amit, 'her mother slapped her--it was quite traumatic--and then things went on in that vein. When she was twelve she came in second in an exam...It hardens you.
Vikram Seth, A Suitable Boy
Dubious by Vikram Seth
Its 2024, and finally I am done with A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth after 3 months
And FUCK I AM OBSESSING over it!
The writings, the plot, the poetry and omg the characters.
And oh MAAN & FIROZ shut the fuck up I need to know what happened to them. I need to draw fanarts and write fanfics cause oh holy lord I am simping on these two 1950s bisexual idiots I can cry. The simplicity yet the poetry and fate that revolves around them, how every narrative comes to full circle, its so brilliant.
This book just gave me another perception of love and marriage through LATA! Her choosing the man finally made so much sense and apt. The backdrop of post independent India.. oof such a classic!!!
