From Kabul to Copenhagen, the animated documentary tells a powerful refugee journey of unbelievable struggle. We follow Amin’s anonymized past escaping wartorn Afghanistan for post-Soviet Russia before trying to find refuge in Sweden and eventually settling in Denmark. Layered through a repressed queer identity and fractured family relationships bonded by separation, it’s a remarkably made film in its moving personification of the global immigration crisis.

FX’s upcoming six-part docuseries “Pride” has announced a May 2021 premiere date! Shot in pre-pandemic 2019, @13thgenfilm‘s Marc Smolowitz produced two of six episodes of the series which begins with the 1950s and works forward through the decades, exploring stories ranging from FBI surveillance during the 1950s Lavender Scare to the “Culture Wars” of the 1990s and beyond.
