Me to my body; my body to me
I could finally see the hospital. The problem was I'd have to cross a busy street with no crosswalk in a snowstorm to get there. I could barely walk fast, much less run, and the cars just kept coming. I stood there for maybe thirty seconds, and then I saw an opening and ran across that fucking street like I was nine years old and my sister was chasing me with a knife. I ran so fast I hardly knew it was me. I fell and got back up. A car slid to avoid me. Crossing that street took every ounce of strength I had, and later I realized I wasn't doing it for Julius (my son) or Adam (my husband) or anyone else. As I ran, my whole body was saying: "I am a person worth saving." ~Kathleen Hanna, Rebel Girl, p.310
Yo ngl. I'm doing all this work in uni to get my paperwork in order. But sometimes I feel like my ambitions are now too big for my body.
Idk. Like, idk how the fuck imma manage to make a label, be my own boss, be successful at reaching people, etc. While disabled.
Idk. I know it's possible.
But if I think too far ahead my brain gets angry.
Being disabled suddenly is the pits.
Hi. I have dx Fibromyalgia by my doctor and I suspect that I have POTS and/or ME/CFS....
I'm kinda scared high key. Not of getting those things diagnosed, but how do I cope with all that? I go exercise and I am exhausted so quickly and for ages after. I don't exercise and I still have fatigue. My heart races randomly. And according to my last blood test I'm at risk of being pre-diabetic?????
I'm scared because I don't have any answers for how to keep going. Not in a passive suicidal ideation way, but in a like "no one in my family prepared me to cope with big feelings/things like this and I am just kind of wigging out in my head about it " kinda way. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm looking for signs of life out there that can relate to this particular mix of disabilities? Any pro tips?
TlDr; Disabled but not fully diagnosed person is seeking any words of encouragement for how to cope with disabilities. Mostly asking for signs of other people on the internet with similar Fibromyalgia/POTS/ME crossover symptoms and pro tips for surviving their body.
