That whole outside the wall of WF in 8x2 was giving me Jaime/ little kid tantrum vibes. Like he's just waiting for her to say it's ok but she keeps making him work for it.

Brienne:

*the curved white scar left by a vampire bite has, over time, been stylized into the curving neck of a white swan insignia, used to symbolize vampires

*in response, vampire hunters adopted the symbol of a black swan

*human!Tam and Linh were travelling together on a night, but a storm caught them far from town

*their pockets are stuffed with garlic and they dipped the ends of their hair in silver and drew the black swan on their wrists to scare away any possible vampire attacks

*they managed to reach a remote manor and are let in by the young lord of the house (Keefe)

*but then his high collar shifts and in the light of the fire they see a curved white scar on his neck and they Realize

*Tam shoves Linh toward the door and she bolts. The last she sees of Tam is him trying desperately to hold Keefe back

*she doesn’t know if her brother’s alive or dead (or worse, turned)

*instead of being an Empath, vampire!Keefe can smell the sweat on a human’s palms and hear their heart pounding

*Sophie was raised by an old vampire-hunter who taught her his trade

*(he became famous for once stabbing a vampire with a silver serving fork. since then people half-jokingly christened him Fork Man)

*Sophie has a little pet bat named Iggy. Fork Man tried to convince her not to keep it bc bats are considered bad luck/spies for vampires, but she still loves Iggy

*now what really happened to Tam in the manor: Keefe can tell when they realize he’s a vampire and he knows when Tam’s fear boils into anger and as the rain has dried and the twins took off their soaking coats suddenly Keefe can smell garlic and see their flashing silver hair and then Tam shoves Linh back and he has the black swan hunter-mark on his wrist and Keefe thinks they’re there for HIM and he panics and attacks Tam

*and suddenly Tam’s half-unconscious and his neck is bleeding and face is turning pale and Keefe is like Oh Heck he’s gonna turn and then the silver of his bangs start to burn him and the garlic has him wretching and Keefe just runs

*Marella lives with Keefe and gives him her blood sometimes (in exchange for money to support her mother) and so he runs and grabs her and Marella has to cut off Tam’s bangs and dispose of all the garlic and wash off the blood and bandage him up and last of all she wipes the black swan off his wrist because he’s not a vampire hunter, even a fake one, even a desperate pretender, any more. Tam became what he feared.

*meanwhile Linh finally reaches the next town, ragged and exhausted and horrified and hears people talking about the vampire hunter and his apprentice and thinks maybe if she can find them they’ll be able to figure out what happened to her brother and if she can get him back-- or if not, avenge him

*but just imagine her finally seeing Tam again and the silver in his hair is gone, his cheeks are thin, his gaze is sharp and she barely recognizes him
