The settings, the practical effects, the camera work, and the costumes are all so stunning.

But the dialogue somehow manages to surprise me every time because I forget just how excruciating most of it is between viewings

I'm guessing you're talking abt my opinions regarding the show? (Cause your defence is book based and I wasn't talking abt the books.)

In the show, she's an 18 year old girl desperate to be heir except she has no skills or talent or patience for any of it and constantly whines about doing what is the least expected of her as heir- get married and have more heirs. I'm sorry if it's so terribly horrible, but that's kind of how the monarchy works. She hated it so much, it was so beneath her, everyone was so ambitious and evil, she should have just given up and left. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

The show gave her no qualities or skills or charm. Nothing that makes her a good future ruler or even a nice person. All she does is whine and complain. Every scene it's "woe me."

Her only achievement of "agency" is using and dumping a guy. That's literally it. I wish I was kidding.

Criston was beneath her in every way, he was her friend or companion I suppose? Then she'd know his feelings for her? Know how highly he held his morals? She doesn't have to agree with his thoughts, but respecting his feelings is just basic human decency.

And she shows no regard for it. Just leads him on, knowing how dangerous or conflicting it must be for him and then the next day, straight up forgets about him.

Like, the man didn't even get an explanation from her. Not one of his feelings or thoughts validated or even heard. Just a laugh in his face. Literally throwing his feelings, insecurities and honor in his face. What he feels is completely irrelevant.

Just for once, imagine if the gender roles were reversed.

Yes, you can say, his feelings aren't Rhaenyra's problem. It's his problem to deal with. She didn't "force" him.

In which case, Rhaenyra shouldn't expect her feelings to be taken care of either. Viserys, Daemon, Harwin, Laenor, Alicent, no body owes her shit. Her hurt feelings and fears and loneliness or whatever is her problem.

They didn't "force" her to be heir, have sex, have illegitimate kids, sit at councils or anything. She's given way more freedom, given pardons, coddled and heard and helped way more than anything any of the other characters got.

They all did way more for her while she never did anything for them. Why then, is she still fucking complaining?!
