Man there is a webcomic called "scoob" which loves rent free in my head
It changed how I view cartoons for the better and the portray of bugs is one of the coolest things ever
I cannot recommend it enough
I read it a few years ago and tadc oddly reminded me of it
Mostly because Jax is like the opposite of bugs in every way

I'm sure this is a hot take, but I gotta say it...
The Super Mario Brothers Movie is to the Mario franchise what Scoob! is to the Scooby-Doo franchise.
Think about it. Both are nicely animated and avoid making the same mistakes that the live action adaptations did, but are really just generic animated movies with these boring new characters wearing the skins of the franchise's characters and filled with miscast celebrity voices (at least one of whom is at least attempting to do a voice but isn't very good at it).
They even both have a scene halfway through where the characters fight a primitive brown-furred character... who has been turned into some popular celebrity except as a gorilla/caveman (there's really no difference between turning Donkey Kong into Seth Rogen and turning Captain Caveman into Tracy Morgan).
