I know Dan will come up with something way better than I ever could, but I've been thinking about Stevie's story & about Dan's love of parallels. I keep coming back to David asking Stevie to go to NYC with him in season 1, and Stevie being a little overwhelmed and intimidated at the thought saying, 'I don't even know what I'd do there!'. She's in a place where she feels stuck and alone. Maybe she ends up feeling free and knowing she has people to come home to.
I could see her coming full circle, and heading to a big city (whether permanently or for an extended trip--gap year, so to speak) at the end of the season, knowing exactly what she'd do there (mirroring 'I don't know what I'd do there'). We know David really didn't want to go off alone when he asked Stevie to go w/ him. I can def see David & Patrick staying in Schitt's Creek, but I can also see Stevie asking them to come w/ her. 'I can do this alone, but I'd rather have you guys with me'.
i love the idea of circling back around to the new york convo! stevie having the confidence to go out and do things and Be Someone is so so important to me, and i love the idea of her getting out of schitt’s creek (and her comfort zone), especially as a contrast to the roses perhaps choosing to stay in schitt’s creek. but like you said, she would always know she has people to come home to, and i think that’s beautiful.
