Was Bunga a jerk to him? Yes

Were the Lion Guard irresponsible by not looking where they were going or telling off Bunga? Yes.

Was Ushari's death avoidable? Yes.

But that is mutually inclusive with the fact that Ushari is an adult. Bunga, and the rest of the Lion Guard are kids.

As the adult, Ushari should've either told off the Guard or make a stink with Kion and Simba. Or try and find other places to sleep. But instead, he turns traitor and summons a demon from hell that sets out to destroy the kingdom.

The main thing that people seem to overlook is that Ushari's actions in bringing back and helping Scar fundamentally and systematically hurt EVERYONE in the Pride Lands, including people who have done him no harm. The biggest examples I'll bring up are Ma Tembo and Makuu. Ma Tembo was uprooted from her childhood home (y'know, the same place where she BURIED HER FATHER) in the course of an afternoon. Makuu got attacked by Kiburi twice, almost dying both times.

Any reasonable adult would call what Ushari does a major overreaction, to be generous.

And yeah, the way the show handled Ushari's death (killing him off without ever addressing why he turned evil, and not mentioning him afterwards) was bad writing. But again, Watsonianly, he is not the victim. He attacked Kion, poisoned him, and was going to do so again with the intent to kill him. Bunga acted by pure instinct and defense, but knocking him into the lava was an accident. Legally, what Bunga does is classified as justifiable homicide, or even just manslaughter, but the context doesn't make Bunga worse or Ushari better.
