It took a knife, a hacksaw, a soldering iron, and entirely too much blood, but my cheapo usb microscope is now working much better than it was previously, even if it is now structurally about 40% hot glue and electrical tape (which is honestly kind of an improvement). A bad repair that works is better than feeding the capitalist machine, or something.
