Elf’s Arrow Pendant from Scotland dated to the Neolithic on display at the Inverness Museum and Art Gallery
This silver mounted Neolithic arrowhead was worn as protection against faeries. Prehistoric stone tools were thought to have been made by faeries, who could not use metals. It is a common belief that such folk would be burned by touching metal mainly iron and silver.
In the 19th century the folklorist David MacRitchie theorised that such objects were used by a race of Pre-Celtic peoples he called pygmies or dwarves that became known as Faeries. He was roundly mocked for these ideas but clearly caught some of the public imagination as objects such as this were made from Neolithic tools found in Scotland.
The way objects can become cultural artefacts of another era through myths and legends is so wonderful.
ENJOY YOUR LIFE 🍷💀🌸 This embroidery was inspired by the original yolo, a two thousand year old mosaic unearthed in Turkey in 2012 featuring a skeleton reclining casually with bread and wine with the inscription “be cheerful, enjoy your life”. I think I can learn a lot from her, which is why I made this 💀✨
Why did Vikings have ‘Allah’ embroidered into funeral clothes?
A new investigation into the garments - found in 9th and 10th Century graves - has thrown up new insights into contact between the Viking and Muslim worlds.
The breakthrough was made by textile archaeologist Annika Larsson of Uppsala University. To unlock the puzzle, she enlarged the letters and examined them from all angles, including from behind. Read on

Unravelling the Mystery of the Maronite Mummies: Why Were Medieval Mummies Hidden in a Cave?
When archaeologists found a cache of medieval mummies in a Lebanese cave, the amazing discovery took their breath away. The remarkably well-preserved bodies of eight people who were buried in Qadisha Valley opened the gates to a forgotten story. Imagine this meeting of living researchers and people who died centuries ago – although the faces of the deceased were still recognizable, their names and companions were already long gone. How would you have reacted to this discovery? How do you think the mummies came to be in a cave?

Yes! I used to reject dresses like they equated with someone who wasn’t me. Just make sure they have pockets.
Is there a more casual version of "こんいちわ?"
Hi there! こんにちは is the most basic Japanese greeting and can be used in both formal and casual settings! Besides こんにちは, you can also say “おはよう” which means “good morning”, or “こんばんは” which means “good evening”.Here is a cute little video/song about Japanese greetings for you to check out! :)
I think I barely ever said こにちは in practice. Like in English I would tend to ask how are you - e.g. げんき/元気? Declare ただいま (I’m home/back) when I got work. Saying ひさしぶり/久しぶり (long time no see) at the slightest time apart. There are so many ways to greet people in languages and to be honest it’s also one of those times I am prone to slipping into English on reflex, sometimes the thing you want to express is said better/naturally in the other language, but younger people especially would hi/hey right back at me.
