1 Year Anniversary

I know I am not as active as I would like to be, but I am happy to inform that I have caught up in all the asks that are in my inbox, while there are a few left they are mostly similar/same questions so I am working on answering them at the same time. I am sticking with my schedule of doing them every Sunday so look forward to that.

Rapinoe did not join her team-mates in singing the anthem, nor did she raise her hand to her heart like the rest of the squad
United States forward Megan Rapinoe raised eyebrows on Tuesday evening when she decided against singing the national anthem ahead of the country’s opening Women’s World Cup match against Thailand. Unlike the rest of her team-mates, Rapinoe did not sing along to the Star-Spangled Banner and did not raise her hand to her heart. Her decision not to sing the anthem resulted in a predictable slew of negative comments on social media – but Rapinoe’s stance is not new. In 2016, she became the first white athlete to kneel during the national anthem before a sporting event, following former NFL player Colin Kaepernick’s decision to begin protesting against racial injustice and systematic oppression in the United States. And last month she told Yahoo Sports that she would “probably never sing the national anthem again.”
Watching the US Women’s World Cup team destroy Thailand was a mix of pride and then embarrassment. The US team utterly destroyed the Thai team, 13-0. They’re defending themselves against running up the score by pointing out that every goal matters in case things go to tie-breakers. But they could have gone without the endless celebrating after each goal and they could have done more to kill time towards the end instead of pressing up the field.

No matter how you feel about last night’s game, one this is very clear: the USA team is the one to beat. They are clearly very talented and will be a difficult opponent to compete with.
