One of my favourite things to do in London is hit up a bottomless brunch on the weekend. I was very excited to stumble across Alphabet Bar and Restaurant between Angel and Highbury & Islington tunes on Upper Street. It’s a huge space, airy and bright, with exposed brick walls and fibre optic lights suspending down from the ceiling. Large musical posters adorned the walls and ivy plants weaved their way around a large sky light. There bottomless menu was huge! With twelve different drink varieties for you to sample including the Allo, Allo, a croissant infused vodka cocktail with pineapple vermouth and Chamboard. You could add a choice of spirits to hard juices, I enjoyed vodka with sea buckthorn and carrot. From the sparkling section, I loved a Poppy & Rose Collins, a poppy liqueur and rose vermouth. The food was delicious, I ordered an eggs royale, coated in a super creamy rich creamy Hollandaise sauce and a full English, with a twist including super spicy Middle Eastern Merguez sausages. For those wanting to get creative outside of the bottomless menu (did I mention yet it’s only £20!) I can recommend their spicy beef burger with melted oozing Fontina cheese and easily my new favourite cocktail, the Smoke Signal, with BBQ infused bourbon, spit roast pineapple gin, dehydrated bacon and smoke. This place is new, fresh, creative and experimental, infusing many of the spirits serving the finished number with all kinds of conceptual props, I’d get your booking in before the word spreads!
