Warning: Mentions death slightly.Â
Word Count: 411
Youâre engulfed in darkness and silence.Â
âH-hello? Is anyone there?âÂ
Your voice resonates throughout the area, sound echoing off the âwallsâ.
Suddenly, a soft light pours down, illuminating a figure.
âJoshâ, you sigh in relief as you see your boyfriend safe and sound.Â
He opens his arms out to you, and you gladly run into them. Not a second later though, he harshly throws you to the ground. You grunt from the sudden pain, and when you open your eyes, the shiny end of a revolver pointed at your head.Â
Your boyfriendâs sweet, green eyes are now replaced lifeless black spots in the mask. His clothes are covered in crimson blood.Â
You see the psycho take the safety off the gun, finger placed on the trigger. You try to protect your face.Â
âJ-Josh, please donâtâ, you whimper, trying to reason with him.
The psycho laughs.
âWhoâs Josh?â he states before pulling the trigger.
Your e/c eyes widen as you hear the final boom.
Beep.
You open your eyes, gasping for air.
Beep.
Youâre no longer in the dark room. The place you are in now smells sanitary and clean.
Beep.
Turning your head, you see a heart rate monitor.Â
Ahh... So Iâm in a hospital.
You relax momentarily before remembering what had happened. You try to stand up, but the unbearable pounding in your head stops you. Looking around, you find a small remote with settings for the bed and a nurse calling button. You press it quickly, fingers tapping on the back nervously.Â
Soon, a nurse clad in all light blue shrubs comes into your room.Â
âHi honey, how are you feeling?â she asks, moving closer to sit next to you.
âWhereâs Josh?â, you blurt out unintentionally. Still, you had to know if he was okay.
She holds your hand gently.Â
âJosh will be alright. He sustained some severe burns to the left side of his body along with mild scratches and some broken ribsâ, she tells you.
You breathe out a sigh of relief.Â
âCan I go see him?â you request hopefully.
She frowns. âNot now. Heâs in ICU currently for his burns, and only immediate family is let in. Iâm sorry. And besides, you took quite a fall. You need to rest for a little longerâ.
You slump back onto the bed. You knew you couldnât argue, because your head hurt so badly.
Defeated, you close your eyes. And, eventually you fall into a quiet, dreamless slumber.Â
