In your Uncle Blite au, does Will know he has a brother, and does he know that his brother is Blite. And if he doesn’t know how do you think he’ll react to the news that he has a brother and it’s Blite, who he put in the Cavern of Time.
I'm personally one for messy family dynamics, so nether Blite or Will knew.
In the context of the au:
Thier, Blite and Will's father, wasn't exactly the protector at the time. It was Jimmo. But occasionally, their father would fill in or help Jimmo as like a co-protector. It wasn't widely known the guy was Jimmo's brother, just someone who would occasionally help the active Shane out.
Que one-night stand that results in Blite being born, and not long after that, the brother meets Will's mother, married her, and had Will. All without knowing of Blite's existence.
Thus, half-brother Shane's now exists!
The only one's who knew where Jimmo and the Blite's mother. Simply because she had gotten in contact with Jimmo about his partner knocking her up.
Some lies were told, and honestly, the woman did not her kid to be a Shane(understandable). But Jimmo did note it down in his journal. And they all lived, for the most part, separate lives with the rare checkin (Blite was still Jimmo's nephew, so of course he would checkin).
Then, years later, Will took the mantle of Shane, and Blite went off the deep end for... reason.
It was only after Will trapped Blite in the Cavern of Time did he learn the truth. He found Jimmo's journal before it got misplaced/stolen, and saw the short passage about Blite being his half-brother.
Will had a small crisis over that.
Blite only found out about it after he was let out of the Cavern of Time. His mother had passed, some time during his imprisonment, and a neighbor had been keeping her belongings till family could collect it. Blite, once he's cleaned up, presentable, and not consumed by his rage, goes to his old home, learns what happened and collects his mother's belongings. Which isn't much. And then finds letters between her and Jimmo, and he kinda puts two and two together.
Blite then had his own little freak out.
Will didn't mention any of this to Eli, or even left a hint of it. And Eli in 'A Distant Shore' only skimmed through the Journal before having to distory it. So Eli is in the dark about it.
Until those letters get found, obviously.
But Red Hook knows, he was like, the only person Will ranted to about this. Because while it was for the good of the Caverns and, just everyone's safety Blite got trapped in the Cavern of Time, doesn't change the Will feels some sort of way doing that to his half-brother, even if he didn't know to begin with.
Blite is, processing. He isn't sure how to feel. And at first he is angry. He doesn't want to be related to the Shane's, let alone brother to Will Shane.
He more or less shoves it aside. The only silver lining is Eli being his nephew, he guesses. Kid's good and is very much, so not his dad. And yeah, it's hella awkward and weird for both of them when they learn the truth. But over time, Eli and Blite settle into a weird Uncle-Nephew dynamic that is purely them.
That's my personal take on the AU for Blite being Will's estranged brother.
I'm actually lean more towards the cousin angle of the au. But honestly, this brother side of things also works quite well, lol.
Tho, it should be noted that this au isn't set in stone, and honestly, I would love to see others take on the Shane Family dynamic for the AU!
