Can I just point out that the existence of Yon-Roggâs daughter, Una-Rogg, in the comics has some pretty big implications? Like, âKree are naturally matriarchal but the Supreme Intelligence has fucked their society upâ implications?
If youâre unfamiliar with her, she has the power to control men and enslave them to her will, and can kill them by absorbing their âlife energyâ. She hold no such power over women of any species. How exactly she does this is unclear, but apparently itâs something that can be âcut outâ. She explains that the majority of Kree women are born with this power but that theyâre identified at a young age and put thought a procedure that removes it. Again, how they identify this is unclear but she discovered that she had this power during her first sexual experience.
When sheâs explaining all of this sheâs pleading with a woman to help her because sheâs terrified that sheâll be sent back to the Kree Empire and have the power removed. She talks about it like itâs basically a psychical female circumcision thatâs extremely painful for an adult woman. She claims that âthe males fear usâ, but the thing is, literally everything we see suggest that most Kree men love it.
First off, apparently enough parents keep it hidden from the government if their daughters have this ability, mothers and fathers, for it to be common procedure to remove it from adults, and apparently Yon-Rogg belongs to the group of people who believe women should keep this power.
Secondly, Una-Rogg has dated a lot of Kree men (because as we all know by now, when the Kree arenât killing people, they like to fuck) who all knew she had this power and the other men around her knew it too, yet non of them ever reported her. She used to date non other than Ronan the Accuser and he was way into it (so you can make a note of that; Ronan is a sub). And itâs not like the men around her are mindless zombies. She only controls enemies for short periods and otherwise mostly for consensual sex play. For example, if a man annoys her or argues with her she doesnât suddenly force him to shut up, so itâs very moderate.
So it very much seem like the majority of Kree men think itâs only natural for Kree women to hold this power over them and even desire it, with a few party poopers ruining it for everybody else. It could very well be that the Supreme Intelligence just doesnât like having a bunch of women running around who can control the men and cause an uprising, so it force the sexes to be on the same level.
And it even fits with the MCU. Tumblr likes to think of Yon-Rogg as horribly sexist, but like Iâve said before we never actually see him or any other Kree do anything sexist in the movie. They say some stuff that sounds like Earth sexism but as aliens it has a different context to them and they treat Carol in a very gender neutral way otherwise. If Carol had been Carl he would have been told to control his emotions too as seen in the deleted scene where Yon-Rogg is told the same thing. In the books we get a glimpse into Yon-Roggâs thoughts about Carol and we learn that he actually see her as superior to himself and thinks she should be free and able to use her powers, but heâs too afraid to question the Supreme Intelligence. He also consider Min-Erva to be the next best member of his team, so he obviously has a lot of respect for women.
And then of course thereâs Ronan who talks rather negatively about Carol until she destroys his ships and suddenly heâs like âThatâs a Woman! We have to kill you some day but can you please top me first?â So Kree men in the movies seem to really like their women powerful and able to kill them.
I donât think Marvel understands the implications of Una-Rogg yet, but I for one would like to see it explored more and how it affects their society.

Where Una Is Faced with More Difficulties
After reading a rather informative Captain Marvel comic Iâm adjusting one of my headcanons regarding Ronan and Una-Rogg~ it seems like their attempted relationship was actually genuine, especially on Ronanâs end. Not that I ever thought him the sort to be disingenuous in something as a personal relationship. It seems like in the beginning they may have felt something for each other but Ronanâs ambitions were too much of a priority to him at the time to allow room for a relationship, which was in my original headcanon from the start.
Also bless Marvel for making it explicitly clear that Ronan FUCKSâ˘ď¸

Do you know Una-Rogg?
I know them extremely well
I know them
I know them, but not well
I've seen them or heard their name, but don't know them
I've never heard of them
LOL now that you've mentioned Una-Rogg, can I ask you how you fit the whole mess into any semblance of continuity? It always seemed to me like Ronan was about Yon-Rogg's age in the old Captain Marvel comic, but going by what Una says, he'd have to be younger. (And oh my, they were absolutely a trainwreck of a couple, because you put Una with her views on Ronan as a... what did she call him? social climber, and Ronan taking everything as a challenge, and you get explosions.)
Aaah yes yes!! I can understand how that would be very confusing câ: I personally always saw Ronan and Una-Rogg as being in or around the same age with Yon being older than even Ronan. We donât have much info on how the Kree age, or Ronanâs age other than that the Kree can live for hundreds or even thousands of years, and we know Ronan is definitely older than 100 (the specific statement being âborn over a hundred years agoâ).
So Iâve always headcanoned that they have a considerably long lifespan. But getting into my thoughts on how the Kree age is a whole other topic thatâs also just a lot of just throwing stuff to the wall and seeing what sticks lmao! But if theyâre as long lived as thousands of years then thereâs definately a long period of time within their lifespan where theyâd look like theyâve stopped aging so letâs say Yon-Rogg has already hit that point whereas Ronan and Una-Rogg have just sort of come into it. Ronanâs always felt like the equivalent of a human man in his mid to late forties so letâs say heâs about middle aged for a Kree, whatever that number in exact years would be. With their long lifespands Yon could be heading into his later years yet hasnât started looking like it yet.
But yeah, their ages have never really been something I questioned because, knowing what I know about how Kree age (which admittedly Marvel have given us very little to go on) and given everything I stated previously, I just always assumed Yon-Rogg to be older than Ronan by a pretty good margin, especially since Ronan rose in ranks VERY quickly he probably is one of the younger Accusers the empire has had, at least when he started out!
And since Ronan and Unaâs relationship began before he actually became an Accuser (I could be wrong about that my memory isnât the best lol) then it would definitely not be hard to believe that the two of them are close in age!
