She knew what she was getting herself into when she first found out about the rebellion. Dealing with secrets, hidden identities, risks of getting caught and even the possibility of losing her own life if she wasn't careful enough; she was ready for all that.

After all, it would all be worth it if it ensured freedom for all Gem kind. Or, more specifically, ensuring the safety of the few Gems she had left and cared about. Both Corderoite and Getchellite were gone by now. It was rough, but it was a reality she had to accept.

But that didn't mean she would risk losing the other two.

She knew the risks she was taking would be worth it, but she didn't know she would put them in danger for it.

Jeromite never expected to find out Ullmannite had been following her that day. Manny, the one Gem she treasured the most, had not only been spying on her out of worry, but also refused to listen to her reasonings. She called them dangerous. Crazy and impossible ideals that would bring nothing but disaster.

That was alright with her, though. She knew her well enough; in due time, she would understand. It was just a matter of letting her see, of working hard to show just how promising the future ahead looked if they kept fighting.

But she never got around to show her, did she?

Why, of all places, had Manny decided to confront her right in the middle of the battlefield?

Why, of all circumstances, had Jeromite dared to lower her guard and gotten caught by gems who didn't care to understand the situation they were both in

Getting away at all costs.

Arriving back safely at Homeworld.

By the time she realized what was going on, it was far too late.

She stared aimlessly at her surroundings as she processed all she had witnessed.

The image of her biggest fear becoming reality right in front of her eyes.

Her expression. Those sad, startled blue eyes.

Fuck, it was far worse than she could have ever imagined.

And she would have to keep that image a secret and take it to her grave.
