Why My Little Sister Is Awesome...
My younger sister is 16 years old and has just started college two weeks ago and is taking a BTEC Science course in which they’re currently learning about diabetes. Her teacher explained to the class that diabetics shouldn't eat too much sugar however he did not specify that it’s T2 diabetics that should not eat too much sugar. My sister, who is on a mission to abolish ignorance about diabetes, asked her teacher to tell the class that T1s can in fact eat as much sugar as non-diabetics but we just need to inject enough insulin to cover the carbs. People don’t realise how a simple act like that can really help educate people on diabetes and reduce the amount of ignorance we experience.
