I had made an appt with my CDE, the only person in the diabetes program here who I have spoken to before in regards to my care. She's always been great, listening to my questions and providing feedback. She always makes time and even is able to get me new prescriptions and supplies if I need.
Apparently there's been a restructuring of the department, and she's the only person seeing patients and this only happens one day a week. Naturally, shes overwhelmed with people.
So the department called me to say they were cancelling my appt because she had taken a look at my last A1c (7.3) and didnt think I needed to be seen. I had "graduated" from the program because my management has been good.
Well, that's just great to hear but unfortunately I STILL HAVE TYPE 1 DIABETES. There's no "graduating" from that!
I understand that it's to make room for people who need more help managing, I understand that its to lessen her burden. But I still kind of want to see her to talk about my current issues and questions (which I do have some). They told me if I did insist on keeping an appt, however, it would be with someone completely different who isnt even in the diabetes department. So waste of my $45 copay much?
It just feels like I've been broken up with. Should I insist on seeing someone now? Or just wait until they hire another person for the department? However long that will take...
