I had a thought, before even going into Book 7 - which is that a lot of the overblotters so far have been ostracised from their peers in some way.
Riddle was controlled and unable to make friends because of that, Leona couldn't form a normal relationship with his family because of the knowledge that he was secondary to his brother, Jamil couldn't form a friendship of equals wirh Kalim, Azul was bullied, Vil is idolised and put on a pillar of sorts, Idia couldn't keep any friends because they'd all forget him/the truth if they saw everything...
And ofcourse by this point we already know that Malleus is revered in the school, and also feared.
But that was what made me think - all of the others received counselling after overblotting. It has ti be assumed the counselling can't just be for the aftermath, but something that's always there for students if they desire it.
Thing is. Uh. What if the school's counsellor is also just as human (read: transitory, fleeting) and also just as unnerved by Malleus as everyone else?
That definitely wouldn't help, that's for sure. The adults in this setting seem to try (hello, Crewell in Book 6) but they're still limited.

Finally... reached the end of Twst book 6...
And of course Book 7 is several times as long. Ahaha.
looking up anything twst related as yet is a minefield, I tried the other day and there were book 7 spoilers because I have not yet finished book 6 :')
Still not done yet with Book 6 and the Shroud sibs but it's funny how I started out liking Scarabia for various reasons and now I'm super attached to both Kalim and Jamil and even more so because I ship those two like fedex.
I mean. The way Jamil's just looking out for him in spite of how frustrated he is (it's duty, sure, but even so). But especially much because of Kalim constantly glazing Jamil no matter what, even way after his betrayal. The constant "he's the best! isn't he!!"
But more than any of that is the way that Kalim reacted when Jamil was taken in the start of Book 6, because hoo boy.
Kalim is a nice boy who is trying to look out for the others as well but only really has space in his brain for one guy and, well.
I went to find the video of it and this sure does look like he's been told his spouse has been abducted more than just his Vice-Housewarden and Servant.
Funniest thing about the ship is (and I'm still going through the story, haven't touched the side stuff yet) how Jamil's family in his flashback are all like "you have to do right by us and make him look good, you know what we mean, right?" and here's Kalim who at some point will be like "I have the best idea! One that will satisfy both myself and your parents!"
Jamil: Oh no, what now-
Kamil: Let's get married!
Jamil: Oh... Wait, WHAT?!
Also just. Guy who's had everything handed to him up to this point having to Yearn because the object of his affections is Totally Oblivious to his Intent until he just spells it out in black and white.
