I have been reminded I spend too much time online (aka on the tumbls).
Imagine, if you will, me on the phone with a college friend I have not seen in years - one of the long-standing elements of our friendship is that we're both Star Wars fans. As one does when there's not tons of conversation, we dip into comparing notes about interesting things we've seen on TV.
Friend: Andor?
Me: It looks interesting, but a bit too close to real life right now.
Friend: True! Mando?
Me: I agree the music is interesting, but it never managed to grab me.
Friend: Well, I think for anyone who likes [aspect of Star Wars I do greatly enjoy]...
Me: *already bracing for wherever this might go, please not the sequels, please please not somehow the sequels, I do not want to get into sequels nonsense*
Friend: - there's [non-sequels thing I do NOT like].
Me: *without the slightest hesitation or shred of thought* I will FIGHT you!
*awkward pause as we both consider what just happened*
Me: *facepalming* Ok, lemme rephrase: If that sparks joy for you, I'm glad and hope it continues to do so, but it did not spark joy for me.
Friend:...Oh kaaaaaay.
Me: Look, no one hates Star Wars like Star Wars fans.
Friend: *laughing like they've never heard that before*
