The way i always forget nigel from tts wasnt a oc created specifically to torture varian in a wattpad fanfic lmao
i want a redemption arc for nigel, not because i like or remotely care about him, but because tangled: the series has a ābig nose = bad personā problem and iād like some exceptions.
Nigel shows no remorse for the munchkin
It would be funny if Nigel's dislikes were to be ignored but what if he dislikes the alchemist so much, that in his dislikes session would have "Varian" written in it. It just goes to show that the royal advisor would show hatred towards the alchemist.
I had planned on writing a story to go with this, but Iām not really feeling it, so have just a drawing instead.Ā Thereās no context, but I think thereās enough to figure it out.

What are your thoughts on the Pascal dragon episode in season 3? I saw in an ask that you did not care for this episode, why was that? I thought it had potential if it actually focused more on Nigel and Rapunzel being at odds and having a minor clash of power (the castle guards willfully listening to Nigel over Rapunzel was interesting) than on just Pascal and the baby dragon. Personally I think this episode felt like it should have been in season 1.
I believe I mentioned that I also think the episode would have worked out better in season episode. It would have been a nice little highlight to flesh out Nigelās role early on while potentially teaching Rapunzel some aspects of the responsibility that comes with being a member of the royal family. Plus it wouldnāt be so jarring to have it disrupt the season that is arguably the most story drive with a random dragon plot thatās never brought up again.
Admittedly though, itās placement isnāt my only issue with Pascalās Dragon. Iām not too keen with the idea of giving the animal companion an animal companion. Plus with Nigelās past experiences from when dragons invaded his hometown, itās another instance when the show sort of hand waves trauma that they went out of their way to establish for SOME reason. Not to mention how much it bugged me how the premise of the whole episode only started because Rapunzel thought Pascal liking a random warm orb was grounds enough to keep it instead of sending it back like Nigel advised. It just seemed like another instance of the show making Rapunzel unintentionally act very selfish and not properly getting called out for her behavior.
Also, Iām somewhat convinced that the close to the only reason Pascalās Dragon existed was for that one shot of Rapunzel riding on the dragon.
About Varian's past, did you ever have to deal wuth people giving him shit, (Ex. Feeldspar)*sorry if my wording is bad*
Neither Feldspar nor Nigel were very forgiving of Varian at first, because heād been to jail and because heād attacked the princess in the past (everyone loves Rapunzel.) Iāve had strong words with both of them, and they like Varian well enough now, so thatās been sorted out thankfully.
Okay, did they HAVE to make Nigel so adorable as a kid?!
