“Tsu-chan, there’s a bitterness growing in my heart,” Psyche says, resting his head on Tsugaru’s back. He wraps his arms around the taller man’s waist tightly, as if he’s found the answers he’s been seeking.
“Is there?” Tsugaru says calmly, continuing to brew tea.
“Yeah, there is. I feel it.”
Tsugaru sets down the tea, turns so his chin rests in Psyche’s hair. “Mm, is there anything I can do?” His arms come around Psyche, almost a little too warm in this summer air.
“Just stand with me,” Psyche says softly. “And keep loving me like you have been, and maybe it’ll be enough to stop this.”
“One day,” Tsugaru remarks, a serene smile tugging his lips, “You will see yourself the way I do.”
“Silly, then your love won’t be special anymore.” Psyche kisses Tsugaru’s chin, catlike. Tsugaru only hums in response.
After a moment --
“Tsu-chan?”
“Psyche?”
“It’s still there.”
Tsugaru holds him a bit tighter, almost as if he could squeeze the pain away. But that’s not where Tsugaru’s strengths lies. It’s in his mind, his demeanor. The warmth that he allows to flow from his body to Psyche’s.
“Tsu-chan?”
“Mm?”
“It’s quieter, now.”
“Still there, but quieter?”
“Yeah. I’m tired, though. Can we go to bed?”
“Anything you want, love.”
