Late #truthfultuesday post. The past couple of days we have been loading up on Christmas movies, and came across a fairly new one on Netflix that reiterated their family motto "always see it through". Even though the odds were stacked against them and they were in a few precarious situations, they persevered and ended up actually seeing it through even though it didn't look like it could or would actually happen. It may us think, yes, most times it is SO much harder to do- especially when life and other surprises within it get in the way, but you must not forget that you can always see anything through no matter what! With faith, focus, and as much discipline as you can muster, by keeping your eyes on your goal, and your ears plugged when the naysayers come around, you can see whatever it is you're focusing on through to completion. 28. I will never be cool. Not conventional cool at least. I can buy the cool leather jackets and don the cool chelsea boots. I can visit new places, post fun filtered pics, and write clever captions. But I will always care too much about what people think, worry that I’m seen as awkward (or worse, quiet), or spend hours analyzing something I said to someone two months ago. I used to think this was the worst thing about myself: the constant, inexplicable paranoia. Now I’m realizing that caring so much is what taught me to be mindful of others and reflect on the good I always try to seek out in other people. Social anxiety is a [seemingly] impossible personality trait to accept. The first step is honesty and learning what it’s like to speak your organic thoughts while stifling the voice that says “that’s dumb, no one cares.” Because people do care, someone will always care, and I hope you never lose sight of that. Truthful Tuesday
The mama turkeys managed to kill their baby. I think they stepped on it. Still, I’m sad about it. They have a dozen eggs but they crush them all the time and I’m not hopeful. I've hatched turkey eggs in the past under chicken hens, or in an incubator with no problem but I wanted the broody turkey mamas to have a go at hatching and raising their own babies.
Sweeping the floor this morning, I found a stone cold, but still alive, newly hatched wild bird chick that the cats brought in. I knew it probably wouldn’t survive, but I warmed it up just in case and it went to sleep, then died. Warmth wasn’t much to offer, but at least it didn’t die in the trash or on the kitchen floor.
I sell eggs from a porch fridge. It’s first come, first served. People can knock if the fridge is empty, if I have eggs to sell, great, if not I'll let them know when I do. It’s very casual, I like that. My main obligation is selling to a bakery/café. I used to let people reserve eggs and half the time they didn’t come by for them. Now it’s easier for me. One neighbor is a pain in the ass and today after many back and forths I actually used the cancer card to stop her yelling at me. Buy eggs, don’t buy eggs, I don’t care.
When I woke up this morning there was a fabulous FB conversation between my old fitness trainer, and the bakery owner I sell eggs to - their kids are friends and they each didn’t know that I knew the other. It was a fun conversation where they both decided I was their local egg dealer.
I feel angry and powerless at the current administration’s rapid dismantling of America. Today’s plum - “Toxic Mega-Merger between Bayer and Monsanto gets approval from Department of Justice” THEY WORK FOR US - WE ARE THE PEOPLE, we have to remember that. Now there is talk of reviewing the Constitution, SMH. No, just NO! I'm not a screaming liberal. I’m a rational centerist, but I've come to abhor anyone who supports what this group of America haters is intentionally doing to our country in the name of lining their filthy pockets.
I read the saddest post yesterday on Sundown Cities (cities where if you are not white, you’d better be out by sundown). I'd read about these over the years, solely related to pre-Civil Rights America, but it’s 20 fucking 18, and we still have citizens planning their Memorial Day travel based on where it’s safe for them to get gas, food, or lodging? This is not okay.

It was on this day in 2016 that H and I went for a burger on a cold and blustery night. It changed everything.
It was on this day in 2020 that H, Henry and I went out to eat for the last time before covid changed everything.
And tonight, as I'm at work, exhausted, I'm reminded of all of the things that have happened over the past 6 years, and minus covid and a few other smaller details, I'd change nothing.
