I have often compared Lucina and Trunks, but which do I prefer? IDK let's see.
Design wise I'd say Lucina...
I think her design is just more interesting than DBZ Trunks' design, but for DBS I'm not sure.
As for character I'd say Trunks...
Mainly because of the contrast we see between the future and present versions of him, showing how his upbringing changed him.

Sayain men have tails, except goten and trunks, we never see them on screen and rewatching the series with my dad it has no mentions of them ever having tails. I did look it up and it said bulma and chichi chopped them BUT IM HERE FOR HEADCANNONING a.k.a. me disregarding cannon and making it a finger painting. Ftm trunks and goten make it happen, it sounds dope as hell
