please hear me out

One of the biggest differences in the marauders fandom to most is that we don't have anyone irl to stan. We don't like the author of the original series, most of the actors that portray these characters in the films were miscasted and the fancasts, although most knowing that they are fancasts, still havnt played these characters and therefore can't give us anything new.

Because of this I feel like a lot of people have been turning to others in the fandom to fill this gap like cosplayers to fill in for actors or fanfic authors to fill in for writers and although that may seem harmless clearly these last few days have proven that it's not.

A lot of these people have leaned into this and started actually coming up with their own fanfilms and series to further this idea that they are now our actors for us to stan, and by calling their followers their fans, and allowing people to make edits of them, use their pictures as fancasts and pinterest boards and even are posting multiple videos of themselves on tiktok as if they're doing press junkiest.

Now a hierarchy has been made and people start to think that they're better then others to the point where they can sell scripts to people even though it's illegal and ask for donations to make said fanfilms (which is soooo icky to me. you do not expect fanartists, editors or fic writers to ask others to pay for their equipment so why is it okay for them???)

This whole ai business was really a long time coming for this fandom and i fear that nobody is going to learn a lesson from this. We cannot keep putting people on pedestals just because they're giving us good fandom content. Some people are smart enough to tell y'all to stop (even tho you hardly listen) but most nowadays are just leaning into it for 15 seconds of fame. That's how we've gotten to the point where people are making marauders content just to gain a viewership and elevate their platform. Or joining a fanfilm to kickstart their career

And this issue of not having content/stans is something i see everywhere. I believe it's why so many people have this hive mindset where everyone has to be in agreement with ships and headcanons or when people keep asking when the next big fic is going to come out that everyone can obsess over when this isn't what being in a fandom is supposed to be about.

I really liked the friendship between Regulus and Dorcas. They're so underrated and it was really sweet seeing Regulus encourage Dorcas to ask out Marlene. I also really liked how worried Dorcas was about what her friends would think, especially considering how that changes over the course of the episode

And then there was Dumbledore asking Remus to join the Order. I get why he did it, since it would be an advantage for their side if they could convince the werewolves not to join up with Voldemort, but Remus is so young. And James and Sirius being so willing to fight and so confident that they would be fine made me so sad. They're just kids, and they shouldn't be fighting in a war, but they also don't really have a choice. The war will affect them, whether they fight or not

And Peter just broke my heart. He's scared, he doesn't want to lose his friends or his own life, but he's pressured to join. I actually think that he was the most pragmatic one. He is terrified, but justifiably so, while James, Sirius and Remus don't seem to fully understand what joining the war will be like. Of course, like I said, they don't really have a choice. But I just feel like they're overconfident, and aren't as scared as they should be

I also really liked the conversation between James and Lily. They're so sweet, and I love how Lily is finally seeing how James changed, which is now letting them become closer

Everyone singing "happy birthday" to Sirius was so adorable. Lily being the only adult was also really funny

And then, there was Barty. Let's just say that he's not my favourite at the moment

But that scene with Dorcas was so heart-wrenching for me. Dorcas is finally seeing that her friends aren't the best people, and she's angry about that. Her confronting Barty made me applaud her. But it also really hurt seeing how Evan and Regulus weren't really stepping in, and while they didn't take Barty's side, they also didn't take hers. It's the moment she really realizes that she has completely opposing views from her friends, and that she can't simply ignore it for the sake of their friendship anymore. And she shouldn't have to

Off-topic, but I really love Dorcas' earrings

And then, we have Regulus, Barty and Evan talking about what happened. Regulus is torn up about what happened, and you can see how he hesitates with agreeing with Barty. And with what happened last episode, it really just seems to me like he doesn't fully agree with the views of his friends and family, but he also doesn't want to betray them. It's different from Evan, who seems to agree with Barty more, and the only reason he's not as loud about his views as Barty is because he doesn't want to damage his friendship with Dorcas

And Pandora putting flowers in Regulus' hair was just so sweet. I love their friendship, and I love how Pandora is willing to be there for Regulus, but also doesn't compromise her own values for it (like when she refused to call Sirius nasty names). I definitely feel like there will be conflict between Pandora and the others for the same reason as Dorcas. This episode really showed us the cracks in their friendship, and how those cracks are only widening because of the war

I also just really loved Dorcas and Marlene. They were off to a rough start, but then Dorcas came to Marlene to talk, which is how they became closer. And their flirting was just so cute. Even if Dorcas' friendship with the others is falling apart, I'm really glad she has Marlene

And another James and Lily scene! I still really love how they're growing closer and being friendly, especially since they were also off to a rough start

Regulus apologizing to Dorcas was... interesting. He really seems to want to fix their friendship, but like I said earlier, he doesn't want to betray the views of his friends and family. He can't choose Dorcas over them, so instead of it fixing their friendship, his apology only drives them further apart. And Marlene punching him was unexpected, but absolutely deserved

I loved Barty and Evan playing chess together. They have such good chemistry, and their banter is really fun. I also liked how they mentioned that Regulus and Pandora always go off on their own. Their friendship means everything to me
