Our Obsession: Why Time Flies
Ever wonder why life seems to only plod along when you’re a kid, but goes in fast forward once you hit your 30’s? To help people understand why it feels like time moves faster the older we get, Austrian designer Maximilian Kiener has created an interactive timeline based on a theory by philosopher Paul Janet that suggests that we perceive time relative to the amount of time that we’ve experienced during our entire lives: basically, the longer you live, the faster a day goes by because it’s an increasingly smaller fraction of your life. Not only is “Why Time Flies” highly informative, but it allows users to watch life literally move before their eyes, hitting home the message that life is indeed very, very short.
