I was 20 years old and I had become a parent, i had to grow up and become responsible for this little human that has arrived into this world and relying on me to take care of her, protect her, love her and bring her up, I had a bad birth, 2 days before she arrived she had stopped moving, I went into hospital not expecting two days later she would be in my arms, I stayed the night in hospital and got induced the next morning at 10am about an hour in I started having pains and contractions and I took some pain relief hoping it would go away, it definitely eased the pain, I started to throw up a few hours later and the pain was getting worse, I am not good with pain btw, it was 20 past 1 am on the 28.07.16 I was just about to go sleep and get some rest when my waters broke, I called the midwife and then the pain was intense I didn’t know what to do but the baby was coming! The midwife took me to the side room to get a dilation check and I think she said I was 4cm dilated, I had to walk down the corridor and into the labour room could barely walk they checked me again when I got to the room and I was 9cm, I wanted an epidural but they said it was too late for one and I asked for diamorphine and they said it was too late for that. I started to panic because I had to go through this with no pain relief other than gas and air which does nothing but make you feel high. It was time for me to push and I had told the midwife that was sat across the room doing paperwork that that’s what I needed to do, she told me don’t push yet and started laughing at me, I did what my body was telling me to do so I pushed, she rushed and got other midwives to come into the room and I was there giving birth in amounts of pain... 20 minutes it took from my waters breaking to welcoming my child into this world, my first words were ‘why isn’t she crying’ then she belted out with a cry I had my baby girl in my arms and it was the best feeling ever. Then all of a sudden I started to haemorrhage there were so many people in the room I couldn’t count my daughter got taken from me and was with my mum and her dad, they couldn’t stop the bleeding, I had to sign my life away, I went into theatre for 3 and a half hours and finally came out and come around I’d had stitches, if I didn’t get rushed into that theatre I would have died, I had theses pumping things on my legs to keep my blood circulating I’d lost 4 pints of blood I spent 4 days in hospital on a drip and having a blood transfusion my emotions were all over the place I was laughing one minute to crying the next anyway that was that and I got to take my precious baby girl home, I had to go on iron tablets and have injections every night for about a week or two it was horrible but all worth it for my little girl 💗 I am so proud of myself for getting through such a traumatic life threatening experience at a young age and not knowing what to expect or what to do. That’s my first birth story I will be doing my second one soon.
