so idk when rangi and nova met, but i think if it was anytime before the age of ten (which i do think they met when they were like five) at some point around ten, nova had a very bad accident (idk what but something traumatic that they really dont like to talk about- even to rangi) and their parents are well off enough to get them implanted with cybernetics

Jack hadn’t really paid attention to the fact that he had spoken aloud until the Doctor questioned him. His fingers stopped their movement in the other’s hair and looked down at him with a faint grin. “Uh... Both? A bit more just thinking out loud, but...” He trailed off with a sigh.

“I was a dad, been pregnant too which was weird, and a grandfather.” His voice shook the smallest amount as he thought of his grandson. “I wasn’t a good one that’s for sure. I got to be in her life later on, just the tiniest amount, but even then I... I wasn’t a good dad to her.” Jack pushed himself up, making the Doctor move from where he was laying on him.
