Richie: “Fuck.”

Eddie: “No, I meant promise.”

The boys are old enough to be going out alone and to be paying for their own movie, so I’m gonna say they’re around 17 in this. Enjoy!

“We’re gonna get sick.”

“Relax Eds.”

“Seriously, the flu is already going around and I-!”

“For fuck’s sake!” Richie snaps, “let me be romantic and spontaneous!”

Eddie just rolls his eyes, but stops trying to pull his wrist away. Their movie had just ended and he wanted to wait inside for the storm to clear up, but Richie has other plans. They’re standing outside, under a small cover while rain splatters to the ground not even two feet away. “I didn’t realize hospitalization is romantic. Are we going to have our wedding in the ER?” Eddie puts his hands on his hips. “And vomiting? That’s super spontaneous.”

Richie flushes at the idea of a wedding - not that he hasn’t thought about it, but hearing Eddie say it out loud stirs all kinds of crazy emotions in him. “Eds, every romantic couple has a kiss in the rain. We don’t get to qualify as boyfriends if we don’t kiss out here.”

“You brought me outside to catch my death just so we could have some cheesy kiss like every stereotypical couple.”

“You knew what you were getting into when you agreed to date me. This should not surprise you.”

Eddie groans and leans forward to kiss Richie, but he’s stopped.

“We actually have to be out in the rain! Not under the awning!” Richie pulls Eddie from the little shelter they were offered outside of the theatre and out onto the sidewalk in the rain. “This is better!”

“Richie!”

“Eddie!” He mocks and laughs at the quick pout his boyfriend gives. Eds is never a fan of rain but Richie thinks he looks pretty damn hot when his hair falls into his face and his clothing sticks to his body.

“Well hurry it up!” Eddie snaps and leans forward to kiss Richie quickly. He gives one chaste kiss and goes to pull away.

Richie, again, has other plans. He holds Eddie in place and kisses him harder, nips at his bottom lip. Richie places a hand on Eddie’s hip, the other on his neck while his thumb rubs under his ear, kissing him like it’s their first time all over again.

Eddie, taken off guard by the make out, kisses back before he can think about how quickly the two of them will fall ill out here.

Then the chill of the rain seeps back into his bones and Eddie steps back.

“Can we go back inside before we get pneumonia?”

“But then I’d get to take care of you and wear a sexy nurse outfit,” Richie winks.

Eddie groans and grabs Richie’s hand, dragging him back to under the awning. They won’t dry outside, but at least they can get out of the rain.

“Come on, Eds, wasn’t that romantic?”

“It was cold.”

“And romantic?”

“You’re a dumb ass.”

“A romantic dumb ass.”

Eddie fights the smile on his face but the battle is lost when Richie pecks his cheek.

“How about I go get the car, take you back to my place where we can share a warm shower and eat some soup to ward off any flu?”

“If you go back out in the rain, you’re gonna get sick!”

“Eds, I gotta tell you,” Richie steps away and his lips tremble. “I’m already sick. They say it’s incurable.”

“What?”

“I’m love sick!”

Eddie swats at him, but Richie dodges his hands.

“Wait here!” He shouts, “I’ll be back in a minute!”

“You’re gonna get sick!”

Eddie: I've been called worse

Richie: Yeah, like what?

Eddie: *holds up eight of hearts* is this your card?
