Here’s some inconvenient math for anyone claiming trans people are a “threat.” Since 2018 there have been 2,861 mass shootings in the U.S., most committed by cisgender men. There were 306 mass shootings since 2009, and only four involved shooters who identified as transgender or non‑binary. Four. Compare that to the thousands of lives taken by angry, entitled cis dudes. But sure, let’s make trans folks the scapegoat.
Audrey Hale in Nashville killed six; Anderson Aldrich (who claims to be non‑binary) killed five and wounded twenty‑five at Club Q; Alec McKinney, a trans teen, was one of two shooters who killed one student and injured eight; Snochia Moseley killed four at a Maryland warehouse. Those tragedies are real and horrific—but they represent 1.3 % of mass shootings. Meanwhile, cis men continue to massacre people weekly.
So when the DOJ floats a rule to strip all trans people of gun rights, ask yourself: Who is really the threat? Is it the marginalized group that comprises less than one percent of the shooters, or the cisgender majority that commits the other 98 %? This isn’t about safety; it’s about control. Lawmakers would rather criminalize our existence than address toxic masculinity and easy access to weapons.
I still stand by what I said: I’m pro‑choice, pro‑healthcare, pro‑gun for self‑defense, and anti‑bullshit. Don’t let them use a few isolated incidents to justify stripping away our rights. If they really cared about stopping gun violence, they’d regulate guns—not gender.
