Over the past few years, I've researched many of the figures behind Ireland's gender-critical movement. One name kept appearing: Róisín Michaux.

like many, she seemed to emerge almost overnight in 2022 with a fully formed platform, an international publishing network and a singular focus on transgender people.

I examined her published work, professional background, public record and the rapid rise of her career. I also looked at her writing on intersex people, her links to Irish and international gender-critical networks, and the contrast between the transparency she demands from others and the limited independently verifiable information about her own background.

This article follows the evidence, the timeline and the publications that shaped her public profile.

Support trans wrongs.

No seriously. Part of equality is when people can make mistakes and face the same societal repercussions as anyone else. If there would be a trans mass shooter, one could not say equality has been achieved until they were treated the same as every cis shooter.

Trans people walk on eggshells not to offend, and we really do get terrified when we see someone rocking the boat, because we know to the rest of the world, we are one entity.

That's not equality.

I used to listen to The Niall Boylan Show out of sheer disbelief at some of the opinions expressed by callers. Boylan himself fascinated me. He struck me as a deeply flawed but compelling broadcaster, someone whose show would regularly disappear for unexplained periods before returning as though nothing had happened.

I've been researching this article for a long time. It has sat in my notes for months, repeatedly postponed because every time I thought I had enough material, Boylan would return to the same subject yet again. Over the years, I watched what seemed to be a gradual transformation: from a conventional shock jock chasing controversy wherever he could find it, into a broadcaster whose output became increasingly dominated by one subject - transgender women.

This article is not a reaction to one interview, one podcast or one tweet. It is the product of years of observation. Even now, I suspect it is unfinished. I have no doubt I will revisit it in the future because I believe there is considerably more to examine about Boylan's role in Ireland's growing anti-trans movement.
